Like the previous fix author mentioned. Windows vista has some bs stuff with administrator priveleges. In order to really fix the load error, instead of copying files and such, all you have to do is set the actual steam.exe to run as administrator.

1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\

2. Locate "steam.exe" and right click.

3. Choose properties.

4. Choose compatibility tab

5. check "Run this program as administrator"

6. Apply -> ok.

Go ahead and open steam. If you had it open, close it and reopen it. It will give you a nag screen asking for permission to run, but thats fine! Now you will probably notice that SWS has its icon correctly in the steam list, and you can run the game from there now! No file modifications needed! Biggest plus to fixing it this way is that it doesnt break the loader!! All your settings are intact and the game starts as it should. Have fun!

"Is this for Vista users only caus I can't locate this Administrator option in XP for the Steam.exe?"

never mind, found the option but it still doesn't work for the black screen.

If you are playing Shaun White on a Core i7, you have to DISABLE Hyperthreading!!! (bios setting) Apparantly it does not like 8 core chips!

After I did that it works!

I am running windows 7 64 bit. Radeon 5850 video card.

Worst Fix Ever. It's pathetic that a game company as big as Ubisoft can't patch their games.
