download wont finish, stuck at "download starting...."

hi as title said, i bought this game last night, and been trying to download it the whole time, after it reached 99% or some thing like that, the download then turn into "download starting..." and are stuck there forever. i just want to know anyone else have this problem? and is there any solution?
i been trying to download it on my laptop and desktop, delete and redownload, and nothing worked.

Have you tried to launch it and have it "update" that way?

I have the same problem, stuck at 99% and then it goes to download starting

if i try to launch it, a window pops up and says " The game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time."

I was wondering if anyone has a way to get around this problem?

wont work. its like the server that holds the i-fuild being very lag or some thing like that. but other games are fine.:confused:

:mad: no, im still stuck too, desktop stuck at 78%, laptop stucked at 99%. looks like theres some thing wrong with the host:rolleyes:

alright i will try that out once my download limit reset. but i dont think theres anything wrong with my home network, because every thing else is fine with steam (play online, download games...etc)

Same here. I bought the 75% off indie games package.:o

On my laptop, it says, Download starting and it is staying forever.
On my desktop, it says, Downloading 99% and then it changes to download starting.

I have been downloading this relatively small sized game for 2 days. It is actually the game I really want in the package.

I hope some helpful guys from the Company/Steam can see this. It is getting frustrating.:mad: All other games are done downloading and are 100% ready. My internet connection is okay, I finished downloading l4d in several hours.

Please help.:confused:

I had the same download problem. I all did was select delete local content on my partial download and restarted the download and it worked.

Tried. Didnt help. :confused:

And now i hv to download everything again. at least the other games can be downloaded tho.

Nope.

I did EVERY option in the support, i reinstalled steam and it's at 87% again.
around 700k-1.1mb/s most of the time so it took a little longer, but still stuck

Im having the same problem as everyone else. Mines with Bad company 2 beta and the world in conflict demo. The download starts then very rapidly loses speed until it gets stuck at 'Download Starting...' If i try to launch the game to get it to download i either get 'Steam servers are too busy' or 'Game is unavailable'.

mine too, i was HOPING to play half life 2: episode two soon...but it got stuck at 99%, now it's "download starting..." forever

I have the same damn problem, if only there was a simple fix. I would love to play TF2 again. I fear that will no longer be possible.

Same problem here too. My city life 2008 game has been "download starting" all week now. I hope steam is working overtime to fix this cause there is no way around it for us it seems.

Same problem with me, my Source SDK won't download properlly it keeps getting stuck at each percentage. I keep trying to pause it then remuse it and see if it runs but it keeps getting stuck and its now at 39%..

Just what is up with steam now, anyway? With the amount of people who are having trouble downloading things, you'd think that it would have attracted attention of higher-ups by now, yeah?

Just in case it can help anyone else, i fixed this for my son. Tried all the usual fixes (deleting everything but steam.exe and the steamapps etc) but still no joy.

Ended up deleting everything except steam.exe and steamapps, reloading steam until i got to the client and then exiting. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and then uninstalled the offending programs (GMod and CS:Source in this case) each uninstall launches Steam briefly and removes it (which i couldnt do through the client). After the uninstalls i launched steam, went to the games i wanted and chose install, fine from there.

Hope it helps someone else!
