Sorry Steam - we are not beggars here, we are your contractual partners. I have a contract with you. I have fullfilled my part. I payed more than a thousand Euros for different games. You are currently not fullfilling your part of the contract right now.

So you should not be surprised when people get mad here at your lousy customer service. One of the basic lessons you learn after a few years in customer service is that people usually are very understanding and very patient if you are honest and open.

When all we get after 22 hours of downtime is what they already know: That Steam is not working - then you shouldn't be surprised if things get a little messy.

So as long as I don't get a message that says: "We have a technical issue that we think is caused by [insert probable reason] and will take probably [insert time] to resolve." I will continue to be angry.

I will assume that you don't value my money, don't value a future business relation and the reason why you do not communicate properly is lack of interest in your paying customers.

Ich wollte nur den Unterschied zwischen den Beziehungen von Riot zu ihren Kunden und Spielern und auf der anderen Seite von ValvE zu ihren Kunden und Spielern, und den Grund dafür.

Riot ist noch nicht so lange dabei mit ihrem Spiel League of Legends, aber jetzt schon wesentlich sympathischer (und ich bin eigentlich langwieriger Fan von ValvE-Produkten)

Wooooooooow, Riot hat den Nutzern virtuelle Ingame-Güter als Entschädigung gegeben, unglaublich! Hast du schonmal mitgekriegt, dass Valve Spiele 10 Jahre lang mit Updates versorgt hat? Dass zum letzten Holiday-Sale Spiele verschenkt wurden? So ganz ohne dass es vorher einen Grund gegeben hätte, jemanden zu entschädigen...

Bitte mal kurz nachdenken bevor du in kurzfristiger Rage Urteile fällst :)

Wie wäre es, wenn du einfach alle Teilnehmer dieses Threads bannest, dass erspart dir eine Menge Arbeit.

Der Tatbestand des Trollens wird hier von so ziemlich jedem User erfüllt, inklusive dir, da du den Thread mit Beiträgen schmückst die nicht im Zusamenhang mit dem Thema stehen, das da heisst "Steam Downtime".

Kollege, wann geht denn die Saison wieder los? Dass das schwierig ist das Problem zu lösen ist ja tragisch, aber gibt uns wenig Information.

In case the ip number of the Steam login servers are not blocked by the German government (which wouldn't come as a surprise to me, honestly), then maybe some DNS problem occoured on some "big" router for Germany? I'm just wondering: What if it was possible to change the steam login server in our settings to the actual IP address as workaround? Once the current issue is solved, we could redo that change. I mean, there has got to be some sort of temporary workaround that Valve can give us, can't they?!? Only so that we can activate some single player games (I didn't activate ep4 and ep5 or Back to the Future yet, so I can't start them directly, I can only start the previous episodes) and switch to that infamous "offline mode"?

We germans are so demanding because we are used to HIGH QUALITY RELIABLE things. Look our cars/engineering etc. There is a big reason why germany is by far the most successful and rich country in the european union. You should really not mess with us. I know steam/valve is american and thus has very low standards in terms of quality, reliability and general customer service but we will NOT tolerate it.

Ich denke was die meisten Leute hier stört ist nicht dass was kaputt ist, sondern der Mangel an Kommunikation. "Hallo Leute, Steam geht nicht mehr." ist ein bischen wenig. Soviel hab ich selber rausgekriegt.
Ich hab mehr als tausend Euro an Steam bezahlt, da ist ja wohl das mindeste was ich erwarten kann das sich einer vom Steam mal hier in die niederen Gefilde des Forums herablässt und eine anständige Erklärung abgibt.
Alles andere ist nämlich eine Unverschämtheit und eine Respektlosigkeit sondersgleichen.

Ein technischer Fehler ist entschuldbar. Dieser Mangel an Umgangsformen und Mangel an Respekt für zahlende Kunden auf Seiten von Valve ist durch überhaupt nichts entschuldbar.

Will dieses wochenende einen draufmachen und will dies meinem freund mitteilen. dieser ist übers interwebz aber nicht ereichbar also rufe ich ihn übers handy an. ich glaube ich habe ihn bei was gestört und bin mir sicher das er ausflipen wird.
Ich hatte zudem heute einen döner, was hattet ihr? :)

Either it's not that bad to do a rollback since it would result in a quite large amount of lost data or a rollback wouldn't fix anything because the problem lies somewhere else. Maybe even outside Valve's reach.

Das Problem ist einfach, ganz offen und ehrlich gesagt, dass man derzeit bei Valve selbst nicht weiß, woran das Problem liegt. Somit kann man den Kunden darüber auch keine Auskunft geben, auch wenn man dies tatsächlich möchte. Da die Ursache nicht bekannt ist, kann man auch keine Zeit für eine mögliche Lösung angeben.

Ansonsten an die anderen hier: Ich möchte hier niemanden bannen müssen und das ist auch nicht meine Aufgabe. Ich schaue nur, dass die Forenregeln eingehalten werden, mehr nicht und auch nicht weniger.

Sondern es passiert mit Steam Verbindung in Deutschland, auch Großbritannien und Schweden wurden betroffen :( Weil es Server von SteamPowered mögliche Fehler erhält, dann wird Valve Software sicher dargestellt hat. Macht ihr bitte keine Sorge! Möglicherweise in dem nächsten Tag oder mehren Tagen hängt Steam Verbindung leider tröstlich ab. :( Wir müssen lieber Geduld nehmen. Danke!

Nach über 12 Stunden weiß man nicht was das Problem ist? Wer arbeitet denn bei Valve? 80% Praktikanten?
Man erstellt so etwas wie Steam, was auch recht gut ist und dann bekommt man es nicht gebacken nach 12 Stunden einen Fehler zu finden? Oder immerhin mal ein kurzes Feedback geben.
Sag bitte deinen Valve Kollegen dass sie vielleicht mal überdenken sollten was sie da gerade mit ihren Kunden anstellen...

Ich möchte nicht drohen, ich möchte lediglich darauf hinweisen, dass einige Benutzer sich hier unter aller Sau verhalten. Ich kann das zu einem gewissen Grad verstehen, besonders da ich selbst ja auch von der Downtime betroffen bin (Ich arbeite nicht für Valve, ich wohne hier in Deutschland und hab auch nur einen freien Abend.), aber was manche Benutzer hier abliefern ist nicht mehr feierlich und geht schlichtweg zu weit, das wird nicht toleriert. Versuche die Moderation auf Deutsch zu beleidigen und Dinge zu posten, die fernab jeder Netiquette sind, braucht hier keiner und die werden auch nicht geduldet. Das hat nichts mit Einschüchterung zu tun, ihr könnt gerne Steam und Valve kritisieren wie ihr wollt - so lange dies in einem angemessenen Ton geschieht. Ich hoffe dafür habt ihr Verständnis, ebenso wie ich für euren Frust Verständnis habe.

Aber währe es nicht sinnvoll dies auch im ofizielem statement preis zugeben? das wird ja nicht solange dauern das alle 2 stunden zu aktualisieren. Ich zitiere:

Besagend ist ein der fehler mit dem schreiternden login bekant und es wird so früh wie möglich mehr informationen geben.
hinzufügen könnte man das, dass problem mit dem scheiternden login noch nich gefunden wurde und somit das problem vorrest nicht behoben werden kann. Aus diesem grund kann auch keine genaue zeiteinschetzung preisgegeben werden. Ich arbeite selbst an computern und weiß wie heimtückisch die dinger sind. Bitte Lass deine kontakte spielen und versuche denn usern das gefühl zu geben das dieser fehler höchste priorität hat. dies tut ihr momentan nichtund das ist es was die user ankotzt. und wenn ihr das wort "frust" benutzt, komm ich zu euch nach hause. ;)

For many offline-games it probably will work if you do the following :
Start Steam and leave the error message open.
Go to your Steam/SteamApps/common - folder and look for the game you want to launch.
Launch it with the according .exe-file (for GTA IV it was LaunchGTAIV.exe)
PLAY!

Ich möchte an dieser Stelle bitte nur noch einmal darauf hinweisen, dass die Forenregeln bitte beachtet werden sollen. Das Problem ist einfach das Steam schon so etabliert ist das sie da nen "feuchten" drauf geben können. Mittlerweile brauchen so viele spiele steam da wird man ja schon fast gezwungen steam mind. für 1 game instaliert zu haben. Und wenn man so weit ist was machen da schon paar 1000 unzufriedene deutsche aus.

Thanks for the help. But this does work without starting Steam at all when using SKSE. The problem is, I don't wanna play Skyrim, I wanna mod it. And starting the Creation Kit without Steam isn't possible.

Nach 24 Std downtime weiß man IMMER noch NICHT EINMAL worin die Ursache liegt? Das ist PURE INKOMPETENZ. Das heißt das Problem wird in den nächesten 24 STD imernoch nicht gefixt. Absolute Frechheit! Entweder pure Inkompetenz seitens Valve, oder was ich eher vermute "low priority" und die haben 1 oder 2 deppen die kaum ahnung haben die daran "arbeiten".

Rofl, du hast mehr als 50€ pro Spiel ausgegeben? Bitte poste keine Zahlen von Steamcalculator wenn Du deine Spiele für weniger als Maximalpreis gekauft hast... Und selbst da würde ich dir nicht glauben.

Und ich wäre bei einer Rechnung nach deiner Art bei über 5.000€ (wenn ich niedrig ansetze) - trotzdem verstehe ich schlicht und einfach, dass technische Systeme nunmal auch mal Probleme haben können, die schwer zu lösen sind. Solange sie aus dem Fehler lernen hat es sich gelohnt. Fertig.

Außerdem sind solcherlei Arten von Schw***vergleich eh sinnfrei und beeindrucken Valve sicher kein Stück.

I always get a logon on the steamnetwork with a non German IP Adress. I think the router of the German Cloud has been cut off from the Global Steam Network and the Logon servers are in France I don't even get it XD

Ein Backbone scheint das Problem zu sein über den der Traffic gegen Westen zieht. Gab schon öfters solche ausfälle vor allem wenn in Holland die Backbones zicken, gibts in West Deutschland kaum noch verbindungen ins Globale Netz.
Bin mal gespannt wann die den Fehler finden!

If it's encrypted stored on hacked servers (and transmitted correctly encrypted to them), the longer the password the harder to get it. 8 random characters, numbers, special chars would be enough to take thousands of years to get it, but as I'm paranoid, mine has more than 15 :)
