A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. "

Hello,

Core2 duo here, 4 gig memory, Nvidia 9600 GT (SLI, but disabled)...

Same thing here: starting, then the same error message. I tried the XML edit, the DLL files and to run the game with -safemode.

None of these actually helped. Rfactor, ARMA 2, Grid, LOMAC runs flawless. Even America's Army 3 runs fine here if SLI is disabled.

So any recommendation on how I get this to run?

Thanks

The hyperthreading in your i7 CPU will mean that it is recognised as an 8 core, which can cause conflict with the game.
The problem can be normally be overcome by doing the following:

Replace the contents of c:\program files\codemasters\DiRT\system\workerMap8Core.xml
with that of workerMap4Core.xml in same directory.

If you open the workerMap4Core.xml file and copy the contents, then open the workerMap8Core.xml, delete the existing contents, and then paste the information you have just copied this will replace the information.

Alternatively delete the workerMap8Core.xml file, make a copy of the workerMap4Core.xml file and then rename this new copy workerMap8Core.xml

This is from a post from the codemasters forums, which should work if you have an i7, it did for me.

The path to the file when installed via steam should be [steam folder]/steamapps/common/dirt/system/

Mine also failed to even launch.

Along with the xml edit above, another poster on here suggested turning off FRAPS (if you run it). With both solutions applied, the game works fine now. :)
