Vista x64 Drops to desktop, no error message

I can't get a game running. Anytime I start the game, a windowed version comes up (my desktop is at 1920x1200) and I am able to navigate the menus. But once I get into the first tutorial, all I see for a split second is my boat on the ocean board before it drops to my desktop and closes the application. No crash window, no error screen. What's the deal? Can I get a fix or refund?

System Specs:
Intel C2D 3.0GHz (stock speeds)
4GB DDR2 RAM (stock speeds)
nVidia GTX 295 on Forceware 182.50 drivers WHQL (stock speeds)
Windows Vista x64 with SP1 Home Premium
DirectX March 2009 Runtime
Fully Updated via Windows Update

You will need to go to Microsoft's website and download the latest DirectX update manually. That should fix the CTD.

I have the same problem. It opens up a new window then shuts it down saying Age of Booty.exe has stopped working. I went and downloaded this

Well, yes. Vista is a nightmare. Win 7, on the other hand, is what Vista ought to have been.

In any case. it's Capcom you should complain to/about, not Steam. Steam's just the store. Bug the manufacturer.
