View Full Version : This game is horrible (mini review)

So ya just downloaded and finished the demo and WOW. First of, it looks like my old PS2 could run it, and it has some of the worst gameplay mechanics and animations ive ever seen. Everything except the cars have horrible and plain textures, and all the characters look like they're covered in oil.

The first mission really wow'd me. Just 10 minutes of driving down a set track doing nothing but blowing up 30 or 40 police cars by using my impossible ability to strafe while going 100mph (they call it a 'car melee' I think?). First roadblock I went through exploded even though I only hit a few 1/2 inch thick wooden barriers. Then as I was driving down the highway some truck randomly jack-knifed for no apparent reason but then a random jump popped up and I went 200 feet, needless to say there was another unnecesay and unrealistic explosion as I was flying over it.

Then 30 seconds after that I got a new mission, instead of police chasing after me it was a bunch of gang members, and I got to use my gun. The gun has unlimited ammo (also you never have to reload) and after initiating a firing sequence you cant turn or even stop it to resume driving if you notice youre about to miss a turn. The gun also has the amazing ability to blow up every car you shoot at in one shot. Then some motorcycles start coming at me, now, obviously one car melee will knock them right off right? Wrong, they just brush it off and its even less effective on them than on cars (which like everything else can blow up one in a single blow).

Then the bonus mission. In this mission your goal is to highjack a bunch of different cars and bring them back somewhere. To highjack them all you have to do is press B and watch as your character leaps 30 feet from the roof of your car to the roof of the other car and proceeds to kick them out in a Halo-style chopper or ghost boarding.

The only positive I can see about this game is that it is making a contribution to the demise of Ubisoft and the end of its ever-lengthening chain of horrible, buggy, and unifinshed games.

Also: why is Vin Diesel the main character?

*maybe some typos, I didnt bother checking*

I saw some videos and thought the game looked fun.
I love racing sims, so one would think I should hate this, but you just have to get the idea that nothing will make sense and go along with that.

But 50 dollars is way too much for a game without multiplayer or (what I think should be a standard in modern games) co-op.
Im waiting for a price drop to get it.

And what's the problem with Vinny? He's awesome man!
I wish Atari didn't hate PC gamers so I could get Riddick AoDA.

The new Riddick game is also a failure (also played thd demo). Extremely boring and a sad attempt at copying splinter cell.

Why are they advertising this as a movie? If you go to actual Ubisoft forum it has 'Vin diesel' written at the top as if he was starring in it or something.

Demos aren't the same as a full version...

Demos aren't the same as a full version...

No duh, but demos are usually made to appear more fun than the full game, such as the halo wars demo. Looked fun, wasnt really that fun. You know if a demo is bad then the game is really bad.

I can already assume that all those side mission or any mission really are basically the same thing over and over.

No, most demos now are more for "will this actually run on my machine?" and "what does the game kind of look like and play like?" There isn't much about storyline in demos, that is why it is a demo...

I was so wrong, I played the game on the 360, itīs insanely bad.
Itīs kinda sad, I like Vinny and Midway is going bankrupt.

But this...itīs so bad, graphics are PS2 like, the story makes no sense and the game features the worst voices and dialog scripting ever.

I'm from a Spanish speaking country and I can tell you that nothing of what the characters say makes any sense.

Itīs like they used google translator to make the script, itīs so bad itīs funny. I specially enjoyed the pedestrian chatter:

"He had big gun, I saw it."

Thatīs not a typo, itīs the translation of what someone said, and I didnīt had a gun...

For PC maybe, but really its all about marketing. They want to make the demo really interesting because if they make you think its a really good game, then youre more likely to buy it.

This game sucks for the following reasons:

1) Pedestrians are invincible.

2) The player can't jump.

3) A lot of repetition.

that's not necessarily true. I wasn't going to get just cause after playing the demo as it ran REEAAALLY SLOOOOOOOOOW and was quite glitchy but, after a while i bought it with a reccomendstion from a friend and it's a good game and runs really well.

another example. the dark messiah demo. that is crap compared to the game.

yes the demos are made to encourage people to buy a game, but they're not better than the actual game (generally)

my only problem with the game my friend has it for ps3 and we had fun playing it

but it's so easy to get stuck somewhere and you cant jump out and the cops and the peds can't be killed which makes the open world kinda pointless lol
