So ya just downloaded and finished the demo and WOW. First of, it looks like my old PS2 could run it, and it has some of the worst gameplay mechanics and animations ive ever seen. Everything except the cars have horrible and plain textures, and all the characters look like they're covered in oil.
The first mission really wow'd me. Just 10 minutes of driving down a set track doing nothing but blowing up 30 or 40 police cars by using my impossible ability to strafe while going 100mph (they call it a 'car melee' I think?). First roadblock I went through exploded even though I only hit a few 1/2 inch thick wooden barriers. Then as I was driving down the highway some truck randomly jack-knifed for no apparent reason but then a random jump popped up and I went 200 feet, needless to say there was another unnecesay and unrealistic explosion as I was flying over it.
Then 30 seconds after that I got a new mission, instead of police chasing after me it was a bunch of gang members, and I got to use my gun. The gun has unlimited ammo (also you never have to reload) and after initiating a firing sequence you cant turn or even stop it to resume driving if you notice youre about to miss a turn. The gun also has the amazing ability to blow up every car you shoot at in one shot. Then some motorcycles start coming at me, now, obviously one car melee will knock them right off right? Wrong, they just brush it off and its even less effective on them than on cars (which like everything else can blow up one in a single blow).
Then the bonus mission. In this mission your goal is to highjack a bunch of different cars and bring them back somewhere. To highjack them all you have to do is press B and watch as your character leaps 30 feet from the roof of your car to the roof of the other car and proceeds to kick them out in a Halo-style chopper or ghost boarding.
The only positive I can see about this game is that it is making a contribution to the demise of Ubisoft and the end of its ever-lengthening chain of horrible, buggy, and unifinshed games.
Also: why is Vin Diesel the main character?
*maybe some typos, I didnt bother checking*
