gmod in offline mode

Is it possible to launch garrys mod in offline mode? The internet is broken on my computer that has gmod, and when i try to launch it i get a message saying 'The operation cannot be completed when Steam is in offline mode'. I don't know why this happens, so please can someone shed some light on this?

Steam first needs to connect to the internet before games can be played in Offline mode. If you can get access to the internet to let Steam connect for about 2 minutes, you should be good to go with Offline mode.

It's a silly system, I had the exact same problem last year when moving house.

Are you saying that I shouldn't be able to play any games on Steam? Gmod is the only game that won't play when I'm in offline mode; I can play dod 1.3 with bots and no problems.

2: Goto File -> Go Offline
3: Launch Garrysmod

Steam requires you to connect to the internet first to collect update information about your games. You can't play them if they are not upto date.

I read around on the Facepunch studios forums and some people said they had problems playing Garrysmod in Offline Mode. You may need to try it a couple of times before it works, I had this problem last year and it worked fine.

Thanks for your help, but it looks like I'll have to buy a new aerial before I can do anything.

I am having a similar problem, steam will not allow any mods offline, it will allow all valve and other games I own, except mods including gmod. I'm borrowing internet, but there must be a way to fix this without internet? I heard it has to do with steam cloud, but i don't know how to turn it off?

Yeah or try Singleplayer after and if not working you need internet for the use of Gmod.

I've also had this problem, steam does that to help prevent pirating. It's retarted that I can play multiplayer games in offline mode with bots (ex: team fortress 2), but I can't play singleplayer games offline.

If there's any way I can fix this without internet connection I'd really appreciate it if I could get an answer.
