Sometimes when I start a new game I cannot equip any items, it only highlights them on my toolbelt but MOUSE1 just fires my pistol and MOUSE2 does nothing, going into the inventory to equip manually (or use for that matter) has no effect either.

Also new games often start with my last play's inventory added onto my starting equipment.

i need to bump this, as it does the same for me as well. makes the game unplayable. i cant even reload half the time.

This just started happening to me, too. I've been sitting on this game forever and only just got around to playing it, now it doesn't even work.

Yeah, it's a pretty common bug. Just drop your items and pick them up again. It should work.
