Hey folks, so we are less than 5 months away from Christmas and HOPEFULLY another famous Steam sale. Anybody begun thinking about saving some pennies/euro/yuan/etc... for this sale? What games are you waiting to purchase that you want?

DoubleD
07-28-2009, 05:54 PM
I am ready. ;) And waiting now. I went out and found Star Wars BF2 for $30 and a month later it is on Steam for $20. :(

But it is a great game.

Ive got 100 euro waiting to be spend on the wintersale, last year i also spend 100 euro in one purchase during the sale, that was awesome.

I'm wondering "if" there will be a holiday Steam sale...

yeah, last year I only bought UT3 and Trials 2, coz I was having financial troubles during that time. I'm gonna regret it if there will be no Holiday Sale this year. :(

there should be no reason to worry about that, there will be

Hm, actually I should get ready probably, last year I wasn't prepared for it and wasn't able to buy all the games I wanted. I'll need to see how much the Windows Anytime Upgrade from the HP to the Ultimate version will be, because I want to get that first.

I plan on buying L4D2 during the sale. Only one month wait at half price, who'd have thought.

mouton

Meh, I will wait and see. I am unconvinced when an inflated price game gets slightly "discounted", for example, and that certainly happens in those parts.

I'll wait till February/March so I can get the game for $25 on a weekend deal. ;)

I have around 200-300 ready. I keep it to load up on games, i'm still playing the stuff i spent 150 on last year. Still have a huge backlog too. That number might dwindle depending on how many 5 dollar weekend deals there are.

CannibalBob
07-29-2009, 04:16 PM
Oh yeah I got my wallet ready. I have a bunch of games I've been holding out for. Some big ones I'd love to buy up on sale are
CoH Platinum (gold + cov)
The Witcher
Drakensang
Dawn of War Platinum

Why not just get the Orange Box?

Half Life 2 and both episodes, plus TF 2, and Portal are the Orange Box. Heck a couple months ago the Orange Box was $9.99 on a weekend Sale. I picked it up then just for TF2...

I'd probably get

Dawn of Discovery
X3 pack (after they deactivate its lousy DRM)
L4D2
Mass Effect 2 (steam version please)

Just let's see if it is a 'sale' or another ripoff. Sometimes the weekend deals are still more expensive on Steam than at the local retailer.

Id Super Pack
FEAR 2 ( and a price drop, maybe one day ... )
Crysis pack

i did get the orange box, in fact i got the deal that you mentioned, but i was naming all the games i have, when i said "all the games i have on my list" i was talking about the games in the My Games list on steam. not a list of games i want to get.

I dont know what other games i would want to get if the holiday sale came round.

I don't know if I'll buy anything, last year I didn't.
Depends on which games there are how cheap they'll be then. :D

But no problem, I LIKE surprises, especially when you think "hey, I want that game so baldy!" and then booom, there it is.
Was the same with the "Stubbs the Zombie" weekend deal nearly one year ago.:D
I thought "man, this must be the weekend deal this time" and yeah, luckily it was. :D

Yes, I would rather brag that I spent more money for games, after all Left 4 Dead is more fun if you paid $50 for it than $24.

Why, I shouldn't be having fun with Luxor 2, Bioshock, Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Bejeweled Deluxe, Geometry Wars, 7 Wonders 2, or the Orange Box because I paid too little for them...

Ironically, his parents only give him the money to pay for everything full price so they dont have to deal with his childish antics daily and can stay cooped up in his room all the time.

I'll have to take that into consideration later on in life. Quite a genius move.

just a question: how much did all that cost you?

Europhoria

I'm only looking at the THQ pack at the moment. Depending on how other games are discounted, I might also pick up Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV, the Novalogic Everything Pack... Oh who am I kidding, I'll pick those games up too :(.

I am looking forward to the sale, though I fear all the games they put on a good sale I already will have bought. Hoping for a good sale for Killing Floor, Garrys Mod, some of the Lucas Arts games, and TellTale games.

WalterBennet
08-03-2009, 05:55 AM
To prepare for the big sale, here's what I've been doing the last few months . Whenever there's a Steam weekend deal that doesn't interest me, I'll transfer $25 into my savings account and label the transaction as "STEAM." Because I'm not necessarily gaga over Velvet Assassin or Men of War, but that's cash that I could spend when Dead Space finally gets slashed to 50% off.

So far I've got ~$200 ready to go for the big day.

DKill3r
08-03-2009, 10:06 AM
Hm, something came into my mind now.
If it gets discounted enough I'll buy the "Call Of Duty Warchest" pack and "Trine".:)

arose1980
08-03-2009, 11:10 AM
I am looking at Trine at 50% off (won't pay more than $15). Spore package at 50-75% off (yea right, it's EA after all). L4D2 (If I can withstand prepurchasing it...) The new Splinter Cell (will be atleast 25% off probably).Dawn of Discovery (hopefully 25-50% off if not a weekend deal before) and Call of Juarez 2 (hopefully 50-75% off if not a weekend deal before).

_Duality_
08-03-2009, 11:33 AM
Now I'm ready for the holiday sale 09, since I bought the Relic Super Pack + Down of War 2 now there's only a handful of games that I'd like to buy and I pretty much doubt that there's going to be a weekend deal on those any time soon.

08-03-2009, 12:12 PM
Right now, i'm saying to myself i won't buy anything this time. We all know this will not happen....
Last time i bought a whole bunch of games... Damn you Valve! DAMN YOU!! *shakes fist in the air*

RockMySocks10
08-03-2009, 12:43 PM
I'm hoping for things like Telltale pack for 50% off, Garry's Mod for 50% off, some LucasArts games for like 60% off (though I've already bought some of them, couldn't resist), Killing Floor 75% off, Watchmen games for 75% off, Mass Effect 50% off. Though I doubt half that stuff will happen, but I can always dream :)

3. Tomb Raider Underworld
4. Sacred 2

Whatabout you?

Some up to 90% off as well. There were a few decent $0.99ers out there.

I might pick up a few EA games like Dead Space, MIrrors Edge, and the Red Alert series. Definitely going to pick up Civilization 4: The Complete Edition. Some DLC (at most 10% off I know). Prehaps some indie titles. Who knows what else if the Aussie dollar keeps its current level.

Credit card's ready :D Anything under $5 I'll probably buy right away. I'm pretty happy with my game selection right now but the more the merrier!

I'm STILL waiting for a good deal on the original Dawn of War games; I'd like to buy them all for $20 or something. Problem is, Soul Storm was a somewhat recent expansion and has never seen a good price yet. It might've been $5 before (can't remember) but I passed on it... bummer since I figured there'd be a "Complete edition" in the future!

Hopefully there are more $1 casual games. I need some on my other account for my laptop. Also, Mass Effect for $10 again. I picked up Pinnacle Station for free and didn't get around to actually buying ME. :(

Anything else will be decided on depending on how badly Boxing Day (Black Friday the day after Christmas) sales empty my wallet.

I got 249 games out of which I've finished 76 of them (yes, I keep track). On one hand I don't need more games right now, but on the other hand I'd really hate to lose out on a good sale... if it's good that is. I'll probably end up spending about 200-300 euros or so this year.

Possibly Assassin's Creed 2 assuming it's even on sale which would be really surprising if it wasn't...
Serious Sam HD, probably wont be on sale but I may still buy it.
Dragon Age: Origins - Heard it's really good with TONS of content (20+ gb, it SHOULD!). That would also surprise me if that's not on sale.
That's really all I can think of at the moment.

Browncoat1984
11-15-2009, 08:41 PM
I'm totally ready. I pre-ordered Dragon Age Origins for the bonus items and picked up Borderlands, but aside from that I'm not picking up any new Steam games until they go on sale (because I have enough to keep me busy now as it is, I don't need to pay full price for anymore games lol). I'm also building a new system. Got everything set up and running except the graphics card (planning on a Radeon HD 5870. Was gonna wait for that but decided to go ahead and build it and just use my current 8600GTS 512mb until I can get my hands on the 5870.

Unfortunately I'll be out of town over Christmas but I'll have internet access so I'll log on to check out the sales and download when I get back...I was asked what I want for Christmas, "money for Steam games"
