Okay, I'm writing this for anyone who recently bought this game off STEAM or is still searching for a solution... I went through google and searched every page available that discusses this problem. I had to translate pages and read broken English, but I never found the solution. I was then trying to install something completely different when I found out the few important steps that STEAM forgot to include in their solution...

I did this on Windows XP, so I'm not sure if this will help Vista users...

I do not install my games on my C drive but the directory is the same. So, no worries.

The reason behind the compilation error is because there is another .BIN file also named "EKShadersPC" but the size is different (it is not 5,934 kb).

First, go to your SWS directory (default C:\Program Files\STEAM\steamapps\common\shaun white snowboarding).

In your SWS folder, go into copy>Ubisoft>SWSnow. You will see the file: "EKShadersPC".

Minimize that and open up to your C Drive once again. Now go to Tools (at the top)>Folder Options>View and under "Hidden files and folders", check the option: Show hidden files and folders.

Now head to this directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ubisoft\SWSnow.

Replace the EKShadersPC file with the one inside your STEAM folder. It will ask you if you want to overwrite; say yes.

You can now launch your game off STEAM. If you want to install the patch, you have to change the version...

Click your Start button>Run and type in: regedit

Now go here:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Win dows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{2E52FB79-7F60-4AD7-B946-5ED18B4F274E}

If you can't find it, then click Edit>Find and type in: {2E52FB79-7F60-4AD7-B946-5ED18B4F274E}

Beside "LastKey" will be the directory to go to. Follow that within the Registry Editor window.

Once there, go to "DisplayVersion". Double click it and change the value to "1.00". Press OK then go down to "Version". Click "Decimal" and enter: 100 as the value. Press OK. You can now exit the window. Download the v1.01 patch here: http://www.gamershell.com/news_65938.html

You should be able to install it without getting an error. Finish the installation and run the game through STEAM. If it does not work, try going back to your SWSnow folder (within the STEAM compartment)and there should be a new application called "ShaunWhiteSnowboardingGame". Try launching it through there.

That's how I fixed it. I'm not sure if people already knew this but just in case... I decided to write up this guide. I hope it helps.

This worked for me, unfortunately I'm plagued with the loading issues and some other crap as well. What a waste of money.

Man,

You are awoesome, i bough this game like a year ago, and tried installing playin on soo many pc/laptops. I was so frustated with Steam and Ubisoft support with this game. The solution you provided helped me today to run it on 64bit Win7 Home Premium.

Other changes that I made in addition to yours was to run it as administrator, and compatibility Win XP SP2.

I can't believe it worked.

Hurray to you and thumbs down to Steam/Ubisoft on this title.

Cheers
