Ok, what am I missing: can't build cathedral

I have 2500 nobleman - and yet it won't let me build the cathedral. (it's red, shows 'requires 2000 nobleman').

I have 2 islands 'colonized' - and they both have about 1100-1400 nobleman each. If the reason I can't build it is because they're not all on one island; how do you build these things with limited space then?

This is driving crazy. I've been playing the scenario's and spent 2 hours last night trying to get over 2000 nobleman only to have this happen.

Any suggestions? Or ideas what I'm missing?

Well, no clue what happened - but I logged in this morning and it suddenly allowed me to start making wineries - and moments later the cathedral. Really weird, but it's working - can finally finish this mission.

The required number of noblemen needed to be on the same island. You can build the Cathedral on any island once you have reached the number you need on one.

I'm afraid that I must correct you there. The population requirements are global, not local.

I know this is a old thread but I hate to spam the forums if there's a thread already made.

Anyway. I'm also having a problem building the Imperial Cathedral I have made it to the last state of production and the game won't allow me to continue. I have well over 2500 Noble men to continue. But not on the island that I'm building the cathedral on. Do I have to have 2500 on that island or globally or is the game glitched. Please know my game is not patched at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need 2500 noblemen on one island. Then you can build the cathedral anywhere you want. It doesn't count if you have them spread out over multiple islands, you need 2500 on one island.

did you build the warehouse? you need the warehouse before you can build the cathedral son

Yes, you must have all the noblemen on one island because there is a hidden counter that also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ly thinks the settlement status is important. It's been some time since I played but the deal is that you must have reached metropolis status in order to finish the cathedral, which in a way makes sense because no one built a an imperial cathedral on a scrub island with a a settlement with settlement status in real life. Just kind of annoying that the developers never added the small part "requires X settlement status to build".
