i would like to suggest adding the ability to add/delete/rename different labels (i.e. the favourites/installed etc) under the the 'My Games' tab in the steam client.
This would allow people to manage and keep track their large portfolio of games and shortcuts a lot easier.
e.g i would have labels such as:- currently playing/installed/shortcuts/not installed/not installed but backed up.

Suggested by users on numerous occasions. First thread I saw was January, 2007 about it. It no longer exists, pruned by the archiver. It went nowhere. Found another thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=576190) that was started in July 2007 and posted to it (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8247765&postcount=68) in October 2008 when I stumbled on it, as it kept getting bumped back up.
I spent a few minutes in photoshop when I posted to that thread and mocked this up (http://www.blazeshadow.net/phoenix/steamfolders.png).
Haven't heard a word about it since. It's quite possibly the oldest, most often requested Steam interface feature, seeing as how it dates back three years or more.
A UI overhaul for Steam is the new Team Fortress 2 / Duke Nukem Forever. :(
