View Full Version : What's the point in offering "F.E.A.R 2" franchise on Steam without it's predecessor?

I believe that sales numbers on "F.E.A.R 2" would increase considerably if players were able to get the first "F.E.A.R" game and all it's expansions on Steam as well.

I don't see how it could possibly be lucrative for a player, who is new to the F.E.A.R franchise, to buy "F.E.A.R 2" before playing the first games in the series.

That's like watching the sequel of a movie before watching the first movie, on which the story of the sequel is based upon. Noone likes to hear a story midways, you got to know the beginning of a story in order to truly appreciate and understand the story to the fullest.

I already own "F.E.A.R 2" on Steam, but if you throw in a packaged price on the full "F.E.A.R" franchise, or even if it's only the first ones, which I already own in CD/DVD format, I will gladly pay the price to have it in my Steam collection.

Sincerely, Azeem Amin a.k.a KaKistoZ

I've always wondered why the original F.E.A.R. never made it on Steam. I'd purchase it (and it's expansions) if they were put on Steam since i already have the sequel.

I have emailed Monolith twice about selling FEAR & Extraction Point & Perseus Mandate and also Condemned: Criminal Origins on Steam, and never got a reply. I hope they show up on the store soon though.

Valve Software and Vivendi were in some legal spat a few years ago over Half-Life distribution rights (Vivendi owns Sierra and Sierra was Valve's old retail distributor, and once Steam started up Valve wanted out); I know the original FEAR rights are (or at least were) owned by Vivendi through Sierra I think, but then the rights to the name were sold back to Monolith after the Activision / Blizzard merger (Vivendi owns Activion Blizzard) and I don't know whether that includes the rights to distribution or just the franchise name... its confusing but my point is I hope the reason its not on Steam isn't because Vivendi and Valve can't stop being children about it and find a way to make a deal and sell a game that lots of customers would like to buy on Steam.

I agree, Steam should sell Fear 1 too...
