Game Windows Live - no connections / no login

Hello!

Im from germany and my english is not so good, sorry :-)


I just bought Resident Evil 5 today. When i installed the game on steam, i cried when i saw that WINDOWS LIVE had to be installed.

OK, i installed it and used my MSN Account. I register my RE5 Serial an wanted to "create" an ONLINE Account to play in the internet ... that is why i bought the game ... playing ONLINE.
THAT stupid Game for Windows programm costs me already many houres of work and it still dont work!


PROBLEM:
- Login to Windows Live Account.
On MSN this account ist ok, but when i logon in the game there is just "loading profile ... " and nothing happend. A few minutes later comes an error (translated): "could not connect"

Router / Firewall:
Im an administrator in a city in germany, i know how to configure my System. So i:

- disabled the firewall
- acivated UPNP (that is really sh**!)
- Port Forwarding; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874
TCP 80
UDP 88
UDP 3074
TCP 3074
UDP 53
TCP 53 ( i know i needn´t all ports, but after a while i tested it with all)
- Router reset
- PC reset

Always the same problem.
So, who has an idea! I am really really ***** !!!

System:
- PC: WinXP Sp3 (all patches incl. newest Windows Live are installed)
- Router: Fritzbox 7170

Hi Martin, i'm from germany too, and i have the same problem with windows live.

I can't play online because windows live is talking about a network error.
I tried a lot of solution but nothing works.

ich habe ein arges Problem und zwar habe Original RE5 über STEAM angeschafft und kann es nicht online spielen dank Windows Live.

Bei dem Versuch mich im Windows Live anzumelden behauptet Live es hätte kein Internet und kann deswegen das Online Profil nicht runterladen.

dann auf netzerkinfos geklickt kommt man zum 2ten screen

ich habe schon eine menge recherschiert und hab folgendes versucht:

-Neues Profil erstellen und es damit versuchen -fail

-Windows Live mehrmals deinstallieren und neuinstallieren -fail

-Windows Live XP fix installieren -fail

-Unter Netzwerkumgebung alle Netzwerke (bis auf Lan für Internet) deaktivieren und Lan auf höchste Priorität stellen -fail

-Windows Live deinstallieren, RE5 über Steam komplett neu runterladen, Win Live abermals installieren -fail

- Ports freigeben, Firewall ausmachen, DMZ freie Zone - fail

Diese Lösungsvorschläge habe ich hierher:

und von etlichen Foren, naja leider ohne Erfolg.

Mit einem Kumpel habe ich es über Hamachi schon durchgezockt, aber online will es nicht klappen

34 Euro in den Sand gesetzt? =)

Ach übrigens Martin, wenn du Windows Live deinstallierst werden deine Speicherstände bei RE5 beschädigt.

That is a bad joke, isn´t it? How can Steam sell a game with windows live when they know about the problem? I read that there were the same problems with GTA IV before ... and nobody could really help.

I WONT ACCEPT THIS!
If Steam isnt able to fix that problem, i will arrogate my money back! I bought the game to play the multiplayer mode!

I hope i will get help here, otherwise i will call my lawyer if steam doesnt cooperate.

mir ist gleich bei deinem screenshot aufgefallen, dass die "internet ip-adresse" nicht angegeben wird ("nicht angemeldet"). das kann schon mal auf jedenfall nicht passen. auch Upnp ist nicht aktiviert. warum das so ist? tja da kann ich im moment nur raten. ich tippe auf deinen router, bzw. routereinstellungen.

ich kann dir aber mal zeigen wie es bei mir aussieht (bei mir funkt GFWL einwandfrei, auch wenn ich kein fan davon bin, habe auche keine ports oder so freigegeben):

mein tipp: schau mal in deinen routereinstellungen und suche nach diesen dingen:
- upnp > einschalten
- nat(-traversal) einschalten
- routerfirewall (falls der eine hat) > ausschalten
- softwarefirewall ausschalten
optional kannst viell mal das ausprobieren und posten:
start-ausführen-"cmd" eingeben, enter-und dann mal "ipconfig /all" screenshot machen und posten. (ohne "" natürlich)

hello I talk to Martin in german because i got a solution for him and that is easier to understand. (for me and him^^)

omg MARTIN ich habs geschafft.
Ich weiß net genau wie, aber ich schildere mal was ich getan habe.
Ich hab es aus Spaß nochmal probiert.
Ich habe 2 Live accounts.
Einmal "Blutverlust2" und einmal "Knechtkind".

Ich habe mich mit Knechtkind versucht LIVE anzumelden, ich wurde wie imemr aufn Desktop geschmissen, der IExplorer öffnete sich ich solle mich anmelden, ABER meine Session von MSN war "abgelaufen / ungültig" weil ich noch mit Blutverlsut bei dem MSN Messenger angemeldet war.
also MSN messenger deaktiviert und mich dann im IE regelkonform angemeldet mit meinem Knechtkind account.

Zurück ins Spiel. meine Knechtkind Email addy eingegeben und pw dazu.
erfolgreich online angemeldet. tadaaaaa. Dann war ich verdutzt wieso es geklappt hat.
Abgemeldet, versucht mit "Blutverlust" anzumelden, fehlschlag...
kurz nachgedacht.
Im IE live mit Blutverlust2 angemeldet
ins game gehoppst Profil Blutverlust gelöscht, PROFIL "BLUTVERLUST2" erstellt

versuch mich einzuloggen erfolgreich.

Vermutung: 1. Live Spitzname und RE5 Profilname müssen gleich sein
2. ALLE MSN Knotenpunkte (MSN Messenger und was sonst noch) deaktivieren und dann erst über den Internet Explorer live anmelden um sich dann ingame Online anmelden zu können.


puhhh das wars erstmal, jetzt zocke ich ne runde ;)

I had a problem getting online through gfwl as well.I ended doing a search and download and it worked.Here is the link to the page

I couldn't get GFWL to work when I first got RE5. At the time I had no router so I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was wrong (the error message saying I have no internet connection is a complete lie when I clearly have a working internet connection and no firewalls at all). I ended up getting two GFWL accounts, downloading the free game Tinker (that didn't login to GFWL either, but it starts up alot faster than RE5), and basically wasted 5 hours trying various forums and hacking my Win7 network settings. Eventually I gave up, went to bed (hard to sleep, I was that mad), tried it again the next day, and it worked. WTF!!!

On the other hand, my friend who does have a router, managed to get it working pretty much right away (we were talking over Mumble for over an hour). Seems like it's just hit or miss.

I recommend giving GFWL support the hell they deserve if you're getting stuck on this.
