Steam (-applications?) keep changing my mic input

Hey there, I've got a little problem.

Whenever a new map starts (in all source engine based games and maybe more) my microphone input is changed from "microphone front panel" to "microphone". This is pretty unhandy due to the fact that my microphone is plugged into the front panel entrance. I heard vista and windows 7 users can somehow forbid software to change the microphone input, but I'm still on XP here. Would be cool if there was a solution to stop this from happening.

Have you tried setting your mic and then exit the game and write protect the config file?

hi, i have solved it by now.

if anyone else has this problem just add +voice_forcemicrecord 0 as a launch parameter to the affected games!!!
