My brother and I both have seperate Steam Accounts with different games etc, basically our own accounts. We live together in an apartment at the moment. Before we could play L4D and TF2 together online, but recently and alot lately if him or I are playing L4D or TF2 online and one of us tries to join the game the other is in it disconnects the other person right away, or with L4D when we are in a lobby and start the game one of us get disconnected during loading.
But there are other times/servers where we can play together just fine and join each others game. This is very frusating trying to find a server that we can both join.
I am not sure what the problem might be, I don't believe its the router its all working fine and our IP's dont conflict and I am running out of ideas.
Any Help or Suggestions would be much apperciated!
Thanks,
Phish

Are you guys using two separate computers with two seaprate ISP accounts? In other words 2 seaparate modems? If you only have one ISP with 2 networked computers and have them networked they still have the same IP and that can cause issues.

Yep, what he said. I know some servers don't allow it, to prevent ghosting.

We have three accounts and play together all the time, just look for different servers.

Anti ghosting is mostly used in Counter strike and a bit of day of defeat, most other online games dont use that feature.

Actually almost every source game has the option to prevent the same IP from playing more than one machine. At least most of the games I have admin'd on.

I had this problem before.
One of you guys needs to change your clientport number to 27006.
Look here
Configure multiple clients behind same router

Thats true, however most servers do allow multiple players from one IP, but then use anti ghosting to black out your monitor when you die, i can understand ghosting on Counter-strike and DoD even though i still find it highly annoying, good thing i havent encountered that with team fortress 2, because that would be childish.
