A "barkingmad1" invited me to GTFO Gaming Community group (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/gtfo) 2 days ago. I have since clicked ignore, but the invitation just won't go away. I know other users have the same issues with declining unwanted group invites.

See this topic: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11482194

barkingmad1's Steam profile page: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198013340016

Note: The user was last seen 14524 days ago, but the account was registered 1 September 2009. This makes me think it's a bot or a hacked account? No friends, no game time, nothing except for that one group.

Could anyone of the Steam personnel please sort this out?

I have the same issue. But with a different user.

The circumstances are identical.

I can only assume that this is a bot repeatedly inviting, so the invitation will never go away.

That's my best guess.

Yeah it's most likely a bot. Question is, what to do about it? How to decline the invites? And can Steam do anything about random bots registering and giving everyone these stupid invites?

Indeed, that's a bug. There's a team of monkeys typing. Once they finish up the Shakespeare, I'll watch for the fix for this to pop up.

In the meantime, if you really need to decline the invites-
Choose Ignore for each of the invites you want to decline. Then choose Accept on a single invite you don't mind joining. This will process all the previous Ignores.

Crappy, but will work for the moment.

imo that would get quite annoying, having to type in a captcha code every time you want to invite someone.

Crappy, but will work for the moment.I'm quite not sure I understood how to do that, but well, as soon as I get more invites, I'll give it a try. Thanks for responding!

This is perhaps one of the oddest bugs I've encountered. I think I've found it, and I'll publish a fix tomorrow morning.

Fix didn't work, so I'm still working on this ...
