Yeah, Morrowind was amazing, but I just really love how Bethesda games are always so expansive and deep, and so open. Some of the best RPGs, and even FPS (no s) have been from them.

I love how they make games full of empty holes purely designed for DLC. Oblivion had all these locked doors which couldn't be accessed no matter what you did, it also had these strange alters all over the place. Then one day some DLC arrives and (shock!) all of that stuff was unlocked and explained ...

Same with Fallout 3. Oh there's an aliens wreckage .. I wonder what that does.. Absolutely nothing UNTIL you get a DLC pack .. lol

Bethesda = Milk.

Arena: Size of the world
Daggerfall: Size of a continent
Morrowind: Size of a country
Oblivion: Size of a city
Elder Scrolls V: Size of a postage stamp?

Love Bethesda? Nope. Morrowind had a nice balance in size vs content. Oblivion was console fodder. Given the current state of the market, I have little hope the next title will be anything other than console fodder too.

they have created one of the best games ever. (morrowind.) oblivion was pretty good too but it lacks of content and orginality.

Elderscrolls series. Thought Morrowind was much better then Oblivion. but I have high hopes for Elder scrolls 5. (if they even make it)

Thing is they did a lot of good things in oblivion that i wanted. The combat is very satisfying, Horses, Voice acting. ect They just messed up on some other important aspects. If they were to learn from there mistakes with Oblivion and combine the good from Morrowind. We'd have the best RPG ever. :)

The alien ship did do something. It gave you the Alien blaster.
I never spotted any "locked doors which couldn't be accessed no matter what you did".
The DLC just adds to an already expansive game.

Morrowind was epic, and is still better than the newer games they make, they should seriously remake that game.

Why would they waste the time to remake a game that's still fairly easy to acquire?

In any case, I like Bethesda for reviving Fallout series (even if I still like the originals better). However, their release so much DLC that either you pay for the game twice to get all the DLC or wait a year for the GOTY edition is annoying at best.

Oblivion had precisely *one* locked door. And the altars already had a purpose.

Morrowind had free DLC. One of the devs even made unofficial mods for the game. Most importantly, back then Bethesda managed to write really good fantasy in the context of a clunky RPG. And I mean unique, unusual stuff. None of these Gears of War novelization industry hack jobs.

Their wonderfully done animations <3

But seriously, I like open-ended games and mod support. While the games they make tend to be somewhat unstable, they're great when they work.

Morrowind and Fallout 3.

And the fact that it's one of the only big companies left which make games that aren't developed for the consoles and then later on lazily ported to the PC. (Yes, I'm looking at you, Ubisoft and Console's Creed 2!)

Thank you, Bethesda.

Morrowind, yes.. that game is amazing.

Infact, it was THE game that i bought the original BillBox for, as didn't have a decent computer back then, so getting the game.. one i'd spend hundreds of hours with, was too good to pass up at the time.

Oblivion.. awesome game too, though i do wish it was a little bit 'larger' at times, as it feels somewhat cramped in comparison of Morrowind.

The Elder Scrolls series brought me in with daggerfall -- a bit buggy and kind of crude graphics even for the time but very fun.

I really didn't like Oblivion much in comparison to Morrowind but over time Oblivion grew on me. Still I missed the intricate elements of Morrowind.

I figured it was required for the consoles to dumb down the game compared to MW.

Totally hope one day consoles become moot so maybe more companies will compete in the PC game market again with PC games. I was totally blown away by the poor UI in Mass Effect 1.. Was totally amazing how they could dumb down ME2 even more than ME1... anyhow, that's another story.

I've not sprung yet for Fallout 3, hope they have not gone as low as EA/BioWare did with the console dumbing down stuff.

Oblivion with mods is pretty damn epic since theres barely any mods for morrowind, so Oblivon + Mods = Pwns Morrowind
Fallout 3 is the same thing, although Fallout 3 and Oblivion tends to have lots of bug that aren't fixed. The games also crash alot, even without mods

The entire elder scrolls series and to a lesser extent fallout 3.

I love them because they publish non linear games which embarace user developed content that actually enhance their games giving them a longevity and depth you dont get anywhere else.

Daggerfall, morrowind, Oblivion were great but for me a large part of the attraction was using mods and adding to the world to make them even more alive. As soon as I go into Oblivion as I have it now I can wander through it just to see the beauty of the environment as I have it so heavily modded with HD textures etc its looks phenominal.

The best compliment I can make is that I didnt think Fallout 3 was (for me) half as good as Oblivion. But I still think its 100% better than the next best game I have played for 5 years. Those games are just in a league of their own thanks to the sandbox approach and encouraging mods etc.

I love how they charge 89.95 USD for Fallout New Vegas in the Australian store (same currency as American store and our dollar has almost reached parity with America's anyway) and only 49.95 USD in the American store. Oh wait, no I don't. They're just as greedy as several other publishers selling on steam like EA and 2k. They can spout "we're trying to protect Australian retailers" all they want, it doesn't make it true, retail will always exist and why should they be protected in charging exorbitant prices? Kudos to those publishers with equivalent pricing everywhere, showing that your integrity isn't for sale.

They make fantastic games!
Only problem is, they have so little support for them!

I had Call of the Cthulu for PC, and after much pushing and shoving, got them to replace the PC title with the xbox version.

Bethesda the developers = Awesome games. I own and love everyone of them.

Bethesda the publishers = Rip off regional pricing. The worse offender. I'll never pay $90 for one of your published games (Brink & Hunted) or your own games (Skyrim) and will instead have to bother with importing them for around $35-$50.

I love Bethesda for the free roaming, sandbox gameplay of The Elder Scrolls. It's utterly ruined me as now I struggle to play the usual textbook, linear rpgs where you're expected to follow some arbitrary on rails story in small cramped environments.

I also loved Oblivion vanilla version with DLC. I didn't need mods to lose 200 hours in Cyrodil..

I know people are entitled to opinions but I think it's crazy if you love Bethesda for ruining Fallout. I believe Bioware would have done a better job if they had the franchise rights to Fallout. The only thing Bethesda is good at is creating moddable engines for their games. They do this so it is easier for them to create DLC with only a small team. They only support modding because it brings longevity to their game long enough for them to push out a few DLC so they can feed their greed. Bethesda should start caring about their consumers. We shouldn't have to mod their games to make them good. They should be good to start off with and made great by modded content.

Everything they do is for profit and marketing. It may look like they care but they absolutely don't. It seems all developers are at their best when they get their first few games out. Then the big executives come in and ruin everything.

Skyrim looks it may suffer the same. They will purposely leave out areas and story so you have to buy it in DLC. Don't get me wrong. It will probably be a great game but it's going to have that clunky console feel. I just hope they thought about Fallout while making the engine so it doesn't feel like you are playing Skyrim 2 with the same engine and different story and models.

You think Bethesda cuts out content to sell it back as DLC? Then you go on to say that Bioware would be better suited to make a Fallout game?

Think about what you just said there.

Also, whether or not mod support is for profit doesn't matter. It's good for the consumer either way.

Todd Howard!?

He's the last dev that still was that old outlook on games. That " i use to play DnD and i still have tons of ideas that were inspired by it". I feel that in his recent interviews he's been " impatient" with the interviews because there basicly all asking the sames stupid questions and some don't even seem to have played the past games ( g4 interviewers... yeaaah), but thats ok. He's a concepter, but he's so good that he's become the face of bethesda. Poor him.

Oh, and morrowind. Hope Skyrim is based of that and not oblivion.

I do hate there marketing team or there financers or who ever decided to start doing DLC's and releasing there game early ( it wasnt done kids... i'm sorry but thats the main reason why we got DLC's XD).

Years ago I would have got all sychophantic about this. I loved Morrowing and daggerfall. I got very dissapointed with Oblivion but I bought it on the xbox. When I then realised what modding could do, I got back in to PC gaming so actually it was a win too. Not only did I spend the next 7 years modding Oblivion and creating a very beautiful world with it, I also realised I was better suited to PC gaming. (I dont know why I thought I would be ok with an xbox in the first place. Marketing sucker that I am).

I have been waiting for TES V for years. But over time, (especially the last 12 months) my expectations have been throttled back massively. With so many disasters coming out of Bethesda lately its not difficult to spot a tend towards growing mediocrity. The innovation and love for development has been replaced by hard edged business sense. While this might pay dividends in the short term. I think in the longer term its inevitably going to hurt. Many people I know do not even rate Bethesda as an Xbox game developer these days.

Skyrim however, could be a multiplatform winner for them turning the trend around. Xbox players I know are satisfied and as for the PC, I cant really compare playing Skyrim until I can mod it properly and see if the potential exists to turn an ok lightweight rpg/action game into a legendary classic.

In my humble personal opinion, I believe the modding community will be able to do amazing things with this game to the point it no longer feels quite as dated as it appears to be when compared to some of the best titles of the year.

So as it stands today, I would be very out of love with Bethesda. If it wasnt for the potential I see in the modding of skyrim. But, as someone else put it:

"they publish non linear games which embarace user developed content that actually enhance their games giving them a longevity and depth you dont get anywhere else. "

In a world where so many games are getting so linear that they feel like cutscenes with the odd choice to make in a tunnel while shooting at something random, bethesda is still making the most open and immersive environments.

This might seem a little weird but as gamers we do not look "up" a lot of the time in video games. Ceilings, clouds, and the night sky are not as appreciated as much as the objects at eye level. Bethesda never lets me down. I love looking up and seeing artwork on the ceiling, spider webs in the corner or even the stars in the night sky and make my own constellations. I have to hand it to them.
