I'm sure everyone has seen noticed the difference between the HL2-EP1 skin and the EP2 skin. But which Do you like the most?
HL2:
Old (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/w/images/7/7c/Vortigaunt.jpg)
EP2:
New (http://halflife.neoseeker.com/w/i/halflife/4/48/Vortigaunt.png)
I prefer the original one, its more detailed and looks far more realistic. the episide 2 vorigaunt looks to 'smooth' while on the Hl2 skin you can see veins and he has a more rough skin.

I like the new one just fine. It looks more approachable and friendly. Plus the shiny skin looks really awesome.

The new one, absolutely.
Wow! I had expected a big text full of complicated words on the reason why you liked the new one more.

It's just more welcoming. More alien. Simple as that. :)

I like the old-old one, from Half-Life, because the newer ones have 2 less eyes.

New. I wish the old ones were replaced with the new.
I'm pretty sure they are replaced in the 360 version (Considering Half Life 2 and Episode 1 run on the Episode 2 engine).

They are, yes. I have it on 360.

And on the PC too?

I kinda like the craggy/baggy skin of the old one. At least in those two pictures. However, the poly count could be higher I guess? :) I would imagine they'd come in more variety of shades, though, that's all I'd like to see is more visual individuality among vorts. They might not HAVE that, though, so... I'll likely be waiting.

And on the PC too?
Absolutely. PC is always first.

the wrinkly one means the vort is older. ;)
They should have both skins, young vort have the smooth and elderly vorts have the wrinkly one. Then it makes more sense.

I personally prefer the Half-Life version. I also love the Vortigaunt concept art drawn by Dhabih Eng for original Half-Life. It manages to capture Vortigaunt's unique personality, and look.

I wish there was an option in options menu where you could choose between old HL2 as it was when first released. and HL2 with the latest visual updates. Including the new vort skin ofcourse :)

why do you want some old skyns-you do realise the old skins are made like that because of the limitations of the engine.
I like the new skyn, you have the felling that you can smell it
:o.

And it smells delicious.
I like both skins, they both seem appealing to me, though the most recent just seems more... organic, I guess the word would be. Seems more natural than the seemingly rough skin of the previous Vortigaunt looks, and looks great when they use the Vortessence.

I don't know if this is an infraction, bumping this old thread.
But is the old skin and model still there in the GCF?

the wrinkly one means the vort is older. ;)
WRONG!!
Vorts age backwards...
They are initially decanted into a larger skin full of folds and wrinkles and as they age they eventually fill it out...
Rather like growing into your cousin's 'Hand-Me-Downs...'

Even though I like the new skin,
I wanna give the old one some pore moisturizer.
