I've been browsing the interwebz lately, just digging TF2 stuff out, or for mere boredom.

I found a pretty tight blog entry about TF2 on the PC, and how it was played and seen from the perspective of this guy. I think it's pretty convincing, and he explains why and how without leaving a simple statement explained.

For those who play both versions of TF2, do you feel identified at some point? For those who only own the console version, I think this is a pretty convincing argument that proves that updates are not as good as they seem.

Honestly, the only good thing about the updates are the maps and gamemodes, in my opinion. However, I've never played the PC version at all, excuse my ignorance.

At the end of the day, is more possible to get DLC than getting an update with the class updates all at once.

I don't want any weapons, I just want new maps contained in DLC for download at the Xbox Live Marketplace.

That is all.

I want to experience the PC version for myself so I can see just how (un)balanced the game is. But I have no clue whether or not my computer can run it.

Me too. I actually bought it, but I quit it right away because it was completely UNPLAYABLE. I need to get a good PC or it would be just a waste of money.

I like Spoony most of the time (I even watched his Nightmare review today during lunch) but he doesn't know anything about TF2. He evens calls himself in that post a "casual player" who only played once after 6 months. First of all, you don't need to grind achievements ever since the random drop system was introduced. You can get every weapon just playing normally for a week. Secondly, Scouts could never kill someone in one hit and the Force-a-Nature has been BUFFED since he called it overpowered. Thirdly, Sandman cannot stun ubers anymore and has been dramatically reworked. Most people will tell you the original Scout weapons are still better in most situations.

Every single complaint he had is no longer relevant so I don't understand why you posted about it. The weapons are great. The updates generate excitement and keep the game alive. Spoony is clueless on the subject.

Most of PC TF2 is playable and in particular, some elements like the Dead Ringer, cp_Badlands and the Airblast ALMOST make up for the fact that no matter how hard you try and dodge that baseball from the other end of the map, it will never miss you.

I posted it because I wanted a different point of view of the PC version about the updates and differences from the Xbox, based on this blog entry.

His complaint is relevant to the topic we are discussing.

Thank you.

Actually I have similar concerns. Team Fortress 2 on the 360 (or 'vanilla TF2') to me feels very balanced, where on average no class is significantly stronger or more useful than any other. On the PC, all the various class strengths have been radically altered by the new weapons and other adjustments. Now I've never played the PC version so I don't know how the balance is there, but I do know that I really like the classes as they are on the 360. Maybe it would be better if we didn't get the class updates?

The new modes and maps are a different story though, bring them on!!

This is true, nobody that plays competitively uses the scout update weapons except for the FaN which is barely used and is primarily for taking out the medic and with such a small clip size he is usually taken out before he can get off more. And the sandman has been drastically nerfed where the scout has 95 health, where one pipe, one arrow, almost one rocket (I think) can 1 hit him.

All he really complained about were the achievements and scouts where I only find the pyro and medic achievements to be the only good ones (just my opinion though) And scouts just have a high skill ceiling.

And 360 being more balanced? Demomen are severely overpowered, scouts are much stronger with random damage off, making them very strong along with other things but I feel like I typed too much and you won't read it.

tl;dr: Don't judge a book by its cover, play the game before you diss it.

I hope that you are not talking to me with that last comment. I never dissed anything, and I said that I've never played the PC version of TF2. Quote the phrase that includes dissing of my part. Can you do it?

I did read your whole comment, why wouldn't I? I just wanted different opinions regarding this topic. Why are you always so offensive taking everything so serious?

The updates are that good, weapon wise.

I just love using the sandman/jarate.

This place (http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/) can tell you which games your computer can run and how well you can run it.

Those requirements are old and outdated.

Edit: Wait, what's with the cryi. in front of the url? I've never seen that.

Dude, don't even get offended, I was replying to what I think about the link that you posted, it had nothing to do with you and was giving my opinion like you wanted, I meant no offense.

I believe I was talking to Mogh who thought that the 360 is more balanced but I don't think I was angry, I just type that way, so yeah :)

Also I don't mean to be offensive and honestly, nothing that I have posted was very serious, just love to talk about a game I love.

As I said before, those requirements are very outdated.

When I first asked about my system, I recieved some negative responses. But everytime I ask, I seem to get more positive responses. Recently, I've been told I could run it at low settings with no config with 45+ FPS.

While there are quite a number of them, you don't have to be so rude about it. You're lucky though, I am a fan of sarcasm.

Dude, don't do that, the mods will totally be on your case. Seriously, I typed the first letter of a word, replaced the rest with asterisks, and STILL got an infraction.

Well, if we were only going to get maps, I would be happy with that. Weapons would be cool too.

I have to wildly disagree with that post. Maybe for the 1st week people would be whoring achievements, but that dies down fast after updates are released. Weapons are not that bad. Sure, dying to the FaN, Huntsman, and Sandman is frustrating, and because of these weapons and others the heavy is ludicrously awful in most situations, I find updates rather enjoyable when they offer different playstyles, like the medic weapons (slightly), the flare gun, sandvich + KGB, Jarate, and the spy unlocks.
