Nicknames for your friend list

I get so annoyed every time my Steam friends change their display names and I can't remember who they are. This is also true of other users that I might friend after a really good game and then not see them for a while.

I'd love to be able to add a note to people in my friends list so that I don't have to remember so many different names, and I'm sure others will agree that it'd be a very appreciated feature.

What about option View Aliases?

I'd prefer to set my own, since I might call them by very different names, or remember them as something else.

Plus, it's something that should be visible just from looking at the list, rather than having to right-click and go through menus.
