View Full Version : Mass (Spam) Friend Invitations

Ok, well all of a sudden the other day when I woke up and got a friend invite from someone I know. I went to accept it and I notice I had 15 invitations (not there before I went to bed). I accepted the one person's, and did "Ignore All" to quickly remove the rest

Well today just a few minutes ago I was playing Audio Surf, and I started getting flooded with friend invitations, over the span of 5 seconds I received 14 more invitations, from completely random/various people.

To me this clearly has to be some sort of bot network doing it?

None of the "people" that tried to add me had any friends or groups in common. Each time I had no pending invitations (so its not like it bugged up and just showed them all at once)

So I just ignored them all again, though I don't much know the purpose of a mass invite like this. I would only assume they would spam message you if you accept or something.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Either bots inviting you to "popular" groups or people manually inviting you to their groups to make them "popular".

I keep getting invites time to time from people I don't even know to join groups, however never more than 3/week.

What invites do you get?
Can you screenshot/copy paste those?

Strange the very same persons/bots sends invites to you and I looked up a few on SteamCommunity and most of the accounts were Korean, Asian, Japan but there were accounts from USA too and they were either ingame (unable to join their game) or offline.

Could be massive account stealing tactic gone wrong as they invite and keeps inviting the same people all over again and not new. (all of them)

Yeah real people who send me invite are always like 'hey why did you ignore my request' and then I'm like 'ohhh, whoops'
