It didn't fix it for me (Intro crash). -lv doesn't work either, nothing's worked so far. Even removing l4d2 completely and reinstalling steam.
However it's extremely fast. It only took like a minute or two and it doesn't effect your games at all, so it's worth a shot I'd say.
Although since this started happening AFTER the update was released, I doubt there's anything I can really do except wait. Hopefully it wont be too long.
