The Imaginary pet can sort of be activated with a hidden setting, but it tends to crash the game a lot. You can always set the pet to always run away from fights so you never need to think about it, or install a mod that makes it invisible and helpless.
360 controller is supported on the 360 version. If they put it into the PC version, who would buy it on the XBLA? O_o
