I'm a fiscal conservative, and bought this game knowing full well that it had a heavily socialist slant. But I can appreciate Star Trek which also has a heavily socialist slant.

That being said, the problem I have with the game is not so much the politics it's that the game play is far too restrictive. It almost plays like a board game or a card game, and while that is certainly not a bad thing. The cards you're given are vague and it often seems the necessary cards are too expensive without implementing heavy economic growth. Which always seems to anger the regions who want you to implement the cheapo social welfare cards.

It's a fair attempt at a "civ-like" strategy game, but overly handcuffs the player with the designers politics.
