I wouldn't sign that "more solid gameplay wise" so easily. I ran all these maps (yes, the contest versions) on my community servers for fun on more than one occasion and for players to play on to get their hands on new maps. 4 of these maps in the contest had issues with gameplay and 4-5 had big issues on some parts in them with framerates on lower end machines when there are multiple players around.
But it's pointless to argue about this as tf2maps.net regulars have voted their favorite mappers and maps to contest.
