Exclamation Your playlist data is older than the host...

Well yea, once I discovered that Infinity Ward did a direct PC port of MW2 multiplayer from the console, I've been in a state of perpetual frustration ever since. Matchmaking has made my life hell and Infinity Ward's blatant lockout of many of the features that were available in previous incarnations of this game from the PC playerbase is just unwarranted assholism.

Now seriously, what the hell is this:
Your playlist version is older than the host's. You must restart the game or reconnect in order to get the new playlist data.

It's exactly the same problem seen in this picture:
this picture
except this time it's afflicting the PC version.

Also, I get this message from time to time:
There is a playlist update available. The playlist update will now be downloaded.
and when I click OK the game simply reverts me back to the FIND MATCH screen but after that I don't think any download ever begins.

I've tried restarting Steam, rebooting, reinstallation and verifying game cache integrity but none of these methods seem to work. So basically I'm stuck with an obsolete playlist that is older than the playlist version everyone else is using and I cannot connect to anyone or play anything. I don't know how to manually update the playlist since everything is locked out and seeing that the only way to update the game is through Steam, I've checked for updates and lo and behold, the game's fully updated. On top of that, my Steam client is also fully updated. I've managed to play a few Team Deathmatches with some people yesterday, so presumably they all possess the same playlist version as me. I guess the multiplayer is working fine and the only problem here is that a large proportion of the playerbase has the newer playlist version and there is no way I can connect with them. Anyone else stuck in the same predicament here (or have overcome it in which case I earnestly seek your help)?

Both of those pictures are from the PC version, no photoshop involved.

Yeah, I think IW left that bug in. After all it is a console port. Why take time to make fun of him. He is making a point. And I think IW are thikning wne they releae their 'DLC' everything is going to be ok. We all know it isnt'. I mean they couldn't stop boasting about it in the video interviews, and if they do release it, they better release dedi servers with it too.

[Found the problem, there is a game update that steam didn't initiate (surprise surprise) in the My Games tab of steam right click on MW2 and go propities. The on the update tap set the game to don't update automatically. Then go to the next tab and verify the game chace files. This should force the game to update.

Your playlist data is older than the host - solved

Yestarday I found a solution how to resolve this problem.
Seems IW net upload wrong playlist to your game files and after deleting the file, still download the wrong file.
Restarting the steam and computer don't work. What I did is - deleted all mp_playlist files from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\zone\english (your game instal path may be different. Depends of which OS you use. Mine is Win7 Unltimate 64 bit).
Then asked a frind of mine who didn't have the same problem to send me his files (mp_playlists.ff, mp_playlists_dlc1.ff, mp_playlists_dlc2.ff). Put them into game directory and everything work fine. There is no problem is files are from different OC. My friend have Win XP 32 bits.
Hope this works for you too.
