Dedicated server crashes on startup?

I just downloaded the AVP dedicated server tool via steam, but whenever I start it, a black window appears for a few seconds until a prompt shows, stating "avp_cli.exe has stopped working, windows is finding a solution for this problem...(which it never does). I consulted the readme but found no fix. Help, anyone?

Assuming your on Win 7 / Vista I would try ...

Setting the exe file to run as administrator (navigate to the actual exe file, right click properties and got to compatibility settings), may also try disabling visual themes for that exe file see if that helps.

... other than that, thats me out of ideas, sorry.

Just tried what you suggested... didn't work. Thanks for the help, anyway. I'll try restarting steam/my PC and see if that helps.

I have exactely the same problem, I use Windows 7 Professional.

I noticed steam updated the dedicated server tool, hoping it would fix it... but no, I still have the problem and can't even start it. If it makes any difference, here are screenshots of it failing.

I get the same message "avp_cli.exe has stopped working".

I use Win7 Prof and Win7 Ultimate.

Any solutions so far?

At least I'm not the only one with this problem... I gave Rebellion my crash report a few weeks ago as well as system information, so hopefully this will be fixed in a later patch.

Mine dont crash at start up ..

but I do get the STEAM DISCONNECT Eresults = 3 or = 20
seams to only happen when i connect a router to my switch with a system connected to internet..weird
