*HELP* GTA IV not working on Windows 7!!!

HELP

I have recently bought Grand Theft Auto IV for my computer. My computer is running windows 7 and i am recieving the error message "RNM20". It is telling me that i need Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista. But I have windows 7, there are no Service Packs for Windows 7.

I NEED ANSWERS!!!!!

Is there a certain install that i must download for this game to work on Windows 7? Do note that i downloaded this game through steam, not buying the game with the disk.

If I am unable to play this game in 24 hours i will cancel the charge on my credit card.

EDIT: I have tried all compatability modes... nothing works

There is a sticky thread: How To Get GTAIV Running at the top of the GTA forum. Your error is addressed there. Try running in a different compatibility mode.

sorry I cant help with the problem as it runs fine for me in 7.

dont do a charge back though or you will lose your account.

I dont care if i lose my account. i just want my money back

do you have other games in your account? if so then thats worth more than getting the money back for GTA 4. try to be patient because surely someone has had the same issue and can help.

i have windows 7 and no problems here, so its probably a quick fix.

I'm not sure if steam keeps it up to date but you can try manually patching it and see if that helps.

Also, you shouldn't run it in any compatibility mode under Windows 7.

Edit: Just want to add that it works fine for me under Windows 7 64bit too

System specifications would be useful:

Processor
Graphics
RAM
Operating System

Make sure your drivers are up to date:

Graphics
Sound
DirectX
Windows update

I realize it says to update your drivers in the other thread as well but I want to make sure you've done it.

This is strange since I have GTA4 running fine on Win7 64bit without issues.

If the game asking for a service pack of vista on seven loook more like you have a pirated copy of seven !

The gamr work perfect here !

I'm getting this error too, and it worked fine a few days ago. I'm also on Windows 7 64bit. I almost finished it too. But now I get this error.
