If you are running a ATI card try this fix

http://www.filefront.com/16696483/atioglxx.rar

Place that in your GameData folder, if your on a NVidia card you can look around on Google.

worked perfectly without the need to use compatibility mode or "Run as Administrator" mode. Thanks.

That's probably because the game runs in 4:3 resolutions by default and you're on a widescreen monitor.

Follow the instructions here for how to edit the config file to run widescreen resolutions.

Before I'm following your instructions, I had the exact same issue with a BETA driver from NVIDIA on my old laptop. This issue got fixed by a newer WHQL release from the same NVIDIA driver.

So I'm not sure if this problem lies within the game. If I change the game's resolution to 1024x768 the game is windowed all of a sudden. And looks like a 800x600 windowed game while the settings say its set to 1024x768.

It more seems like a driver issue to me, but I could be wrong.

The game runs in 4:3 resolutions without making config edits, period.

What differs by driver is scaling behavior. If the image was taking up your whole screen, that means the 4:3 image was being stretched to fill the whole screen - it would have been distorted with things looking wider than they should. The black bars you're seeing now are the result of aspect scaling - a mode where the driver keeps the image in the correct aspect and adds black bars in the unused space. E.g. same concept as a letterboxed movie on a 4:3 TV, except in this case the source image is thinner than the display, not wider.

Scaling behavior is an adjustable setting within the driver - installing the new driver probably just reset/changed that setting. However changing your scaling setting won't produce an optional solution either way, you'll either have the black bars, or a distorted image, you'll want to make the config edits I linked to run the game in an actual widescreen resolution.

Hi! I bought the Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast game, but the problem is that Windows 7 will not start, JK2SP.exe fails. I see a very old topic, so I could not find a solution to this problem.
Can anyone help, how can I start the game?

Same problem here. Got it during the winter sale and it's not working for me.

I'm using an AMD Radeon HD 6750M.

I've tried updating the drivers, running in XP compatibility mode, turning fullscreen off, and installing a putting an OpenGL DLL file I found on another site into the GameData folder. None of these have worked.

So I, and others, I'm sure could really use more information on how to fix this issue, in addition to maybe fixed download links to the files above.

Thanks.
