Game stutterings (vidéo + audio)

Hello.

First, i'm not english, so be cool whis my writing. Then, let's go ^^

I have a big broblem when playing AS.
The game runs perfectly (99/100 FPS) until the maps events come (i.e. the elevator event).

At that time, i have a huge FPS drop, and from 99, i fall to 9 FPS MAX!!! And the sounds're stuttering too.
I tried everything, activate and deactivate graphical parameters, vert sync, multicore rendering, and some others.

Can't get the game run fine in the events.

The stutters keep going on in the game after the event, and even in the game menu.
Everything come back fine when next part is loaded, until next event....

I'm going nut!

Please help.

PS : My config
- Asrock 890FX deluxe 3 mobo
- Phenom II x6 1090T
- HD4870 1Go Sapphire VaporX (10.9 catalysts, but i had same PB with 10.4, and a friend have a 4870 Xfire and no problem)
- Velociraptor 300Go for system and games
- 8Go Kingston DDR3 Memory
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits GENUINE

It wouldn't hurt to check your graphic card's Catalyst Control Center and lower your graphical settings from there. For a game like Alien Swarm, you probably won't need antialiasing, so you might as well set it to minimum, as it requires lots of memory.

Don't tell me that it's normal to lost 90 FPS just like that, i have 99 FPS all the time, even when 10/20 aliens are on screen.
And in CCC, i "let application decide".
And i tried all graphical to low, without AA.AF, and same problem, 99 FPS all the time, sounds pretty, the event, and hop, just in one second, 9 FPS and crappy sounds.

And for those who would come and tell me "that's slow motion", i stop you now, IT IS NOT.
I know that because :

- when the "slo mo event" stops, i don't get my FPS back.
- when i host the game, the 3 buds i play with just experience the same stutters than me
- when one of my 3 buddies host the game, they don't have the problem, but i do

Maybe my problem is connected with the slo-mo, but IT IS NOT the slo mo effect i experience, it's the AWFULL FPS DROP AND SOUNDS STUTTERING EFFECT i experience, starting the beginnig of all events, and stopping when next part of map is loaded.

Maybe the server you're using is the problem. Next time it happens, try to check your ping.

Or it may be your graphic card. Have you ever experienced with other recent games?

Well I have an alienware laptop and I loose about 3/4 of my frame rate on the elevator

and we are talking about a £2000+ gaming laptop. It's probably just the game.

Think about it there's probably over 50 drones around you when on the elevator.

Slo Mo (for exemple in the elevator) make you loose 1/3 to 2/3 FPS. That's how slo mo work in this game, BUT, it's not my problem!
I don't use server, it's local hosted, so, when i'm host, i've 5ms ping, and when a fiend host, i have 50ms ping, and that's not the PB neither.

Read before answer! I already told that.

I gonna post demo record i just done.

I'll try.

PS : i'll need to do a vidéo from demos i made because source demos are not like vidéos, and result depend on PC it plays on, so if you don't have the bug, demo will play fine...
But demo are here : http://hotfile.com/dl/75837872/c98a823/swarm.exe.html

Ping and FPS are not the same thing, AFAIK. You didn't mention anything about ping before. Chill out, mon gars (you're a guy, right?). Maybe there's something wrong with your ISP?

Anyway, I don't know about this. I don't have a gaming PC (Phenom 9650 Quad-Core), but I do have a good graphic card (HD5770), and I don't have performance issues with the elevator part. I USED to have performance problems with Syntek Residentials, but Valve fixed those a while back... plus I had a HD4600 card.

Did you check the following thread : http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1375246

Plenty of tweaking tricks. Maybe it could come in handy!

This stuttering has reared it's head in other games too recently there are some things you can do. first head to the website of your motherboard and graphics cards manufacturer download the lasted updates for your sound and grahpics card. This should fix the issue if not it'll almost completely get rid of the stuttering.

second make the steam/appcache/stats folder exempt from antivirus scans. each time the files in that folder change your anti-virus re-scans them slowing the game down.

Didn't i mention it occurs even when i was host?
When you host, how could you have ping issues?
I saw this thread : http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...hlight=stutter
But nothing helpfull, and certainly not those "it's just the slo mo bro" morrons!

I'm not a noob in PC, i do my own config alone, and make updates very often.

My PC can run all recently game @ good FPS @ 1920x1200.

If i post here, it's because i tried everything i could on drivers and component parts.
It's NOT my ISP, it's not a power calculation problem.

I just hope some AS game dev or some advanced user could help for this.

I am not the only guy who have this problem, so, i assume it comes from the game.
Maybe some issue with certain CPU...

I'll try the sound thing that Red Spot told me.

Turn on Vsync and strip your sound options.
It changed the game from -unplayable when the commander guy is talking- to -smooth as silk even on Beyond Insane- for me.

It was preventive ^^
I was not talking about pple who replied me here, who i thanks to do so by the way, but i don't want my topic goes like the one i gave the url, with tone of people not reading and just tell "slow motion"

Our problem is real, and is just anoying.

Yes Kein i'll do that, with the demos i posted, i'll do some vidéos with fraps, this way, it'll be easy to see différence between what you experience as "no problem" player, and what we do, as "event stuttered" ^^

No, not with demo. You can't do it right with demo, because demo has no such delays, it "plays" locally. You need to record real-time footage, when you are online.
