Steam is a bunch of liars

You should all know that steam holds out on updates for certain games, then claims they don't have the update. For those of you who bought Eschalon Book 2 from steam don't count on timely updates for the game, as version 1.04 has been out for 4 months and basilisk games confirms that they provided the update to steam, they have been sitting on the update for 4 months. 1.05 is already coming out, and yet my version of the game is still 1.03. I used to buy a lot of games from steam, but from now on I will only be downloading demos, and if I want to buy the game I will be going to another source for the game.

:/ from what I read on those forums...

1. they got the files.
2. they got the permission.
3. ???
4. game patched (still waiting for point 3 to conclude?)

Also read that the .05 patch is coming out soon, so... :/ I dunno, maybe they`re waiting for that one and fix everything in one go?

yeah you should understand that steam games do require any cd's/dvd's just the steam drm to run so just installing any patch would screw up the game

4. game unpatched (because Valve doesn't care about indie devs, especially when the game is non-Steamworks)
Fixed for truth.

@all Steamzealots: go try to distribute some indie game on Steam and then tell us if you still love Steam.

Look at the storefront: only Steamworks games, games with achievements or games with "reliable" publishers were released on Steam in the past 8 months.

@OP, complain to the gaming media. Valve selling an outdated game while sitting on a patch for three weeks would be a fun story. If they run it, the game will be fixed within 48 hours, guaranteed. It's a shame but it worked for Earth 2160. Unpatched for over a year and completely unplayable for two months, issue addressed within hours of the press making some noise.

On top of that, who cares if a game has achievements? There have been tons of indie releases on Steam in the last eight months. Does a game stop being indie because it has them? That means GFWL sucks just as much since achievements are actually required.

I'm not that savvy to be honest, I have no idea how to complain to the gaming media, I don't even post on forums that much, as you can see I just created this forum account simply to address this issue. But I think it's a good idea that you have. If you could help me in how to complain to the gaming media, I would be more than happy to. I have completely written off steam in the future, and will never again purchase a game from them so I could care less about this account, if they decide to lock me up or ban me from there forums, in the mean time I will keep making noise about it on the general forums where it can be seen by everyone, and not just people who can find some obscure forum, in publisher & developer discussions. thanks for the support

While I am still waiting on help on complaining to the game media. In the meantime I used a resource I have used many times in the past by filing a complaint about this with the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully that will get somewhere.

2-5 year old titles and only now Valve hardly agreed to publish them.

Valve "hardly" agreed? lol? That doesn't even make sense. It's either sold or it isn't, there's no such thing as "hardly" selling something.

Also, you can add one more to the list: http://store.steampowered.com/app/80300/

Steam sucks because some games have achievements!!!! GFWL sucks more then because every game has them.

There are some technical issues that are preventing the update from working correctly and we are currently working hard to iron those issues out so we can apply the update.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Good thing it only took you three months to start fixing this.

And am I the only one that finds sad that Valve only answered when one guy deliberately decided to break the rules and post in General using an inflammatory title to get some attention?

Valve, you're not only late, you're also enforcing breaking your own forum rules for you to care about a game you're selling.

Sorry for my aggressive tone, but this whole cynicism really gets me.
