RFG doesn't even start

When executed the game, a black screen will show up and and error report screen will appear and the game crashes to the desktop.

Anyone getting this problem and/or know how to fix it?

OS: Windows XP
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6550
GPU: HD4870 512MB
RAM: 2GB

Video card is up to date.

First place I looked was that thread and there were no solutions to my problem.

Did you try any of the things there though? It's easy to go "my problem isn't listed none of this will work" (not implying you're saying that).

I would advise veryfying your game files (if not already done), restart steam, if it still doesn't work restart your computer and if it still doesn't work, go into you ATI configuartion tool, i think its called catalyst control centre, and turn all the options to lowest settings. If that doesn't work i dont know. I do remember either on this forum or community.redfaction.com someone had a similar issue but its 3.30 in the morning here and i need sleep!

First thing I did was a Google search and that thread was one of the results and after reading through the thread, I tried everything that pertained to my issue or resembled it in the slightest and to no avail...

disable scaling for high DPI setting. Find .exe file under steam folder right click, got to properties, go to compatibility tab check box that says disable scaling for high DPI setting. Works fine for me now.
Wasted 3 hours of my day trying to figure this ♥♥♥♥ out, might as well share it with others. Also works for Ghostbusters.
