Moving Linux trine save game data onto steam cloud

I played a while on linux but now want to move my save-game over to the steam cloud - what is the easiest way of doing this?

Oh this is a tricky one. So you want to move your Linux saves to the Cloud for play on Windows/Mac? The Linux version doesn't support Cloud (nor Steam in any way).

However the save files may be 100% the same, in which case this would be possible...

Before anything, please take backup copies of the saves! Steam Cloud can overwrite stuff on its own sometimes.

What you should do: copy the Linux saves (should be in ~/.frozenbyte/trine/profiles/default/save I believe) to your Windows machine where you have Trine installed.

e.g.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\trine\profiles\defaul t\save
and put the save files there.

Ok, now go to the trine\config\options.txt and find the line "steam_cloud_enabled = 1" and change that to 0. Then write-protect the options.txt file so the game can't overwrite it upon launch/quit.

Then launch the game. Check that your saves appear in the Choose level -> Change saveslot menu, and check that they work ok.

If so, open the game console with the F8 key and write (case sensitive): saveToSteamCloud
and press enter. That should send the files to the Cloud. Now quit, go remove write protection from options.txt and re-enable Steam Cloud (you can do so in the console too with "/steam_cloud enabled 1".

Let me know if this works!

okay turned out, because I had not uploaded anything to steamcloud yet I could just paste the save data into the location specified and it uploaded it. Seems fine to me at the moment

That's great. It was a long shot but seems like it went well after all.
