Ok seriously, wtf, are they really going to just sh*t all over the expansion pack Extraction Point? That game shows the aftermath of what happened after Alma got out in part 1. Jin and Holiday both DIE!!!!!!!!! Now they are going to say they are alive? WTF is going on?!

I really do have to wonder what the logic was in screwing the story up so much. Expansion or not, if it were me I would have stuck to the damn story.
"Expansion" means to more or less...well, to *expand* on something, not to do something else entirely.
Even so I thought EP was a great game.
Not to mention, as an "expansion" it's longer and more detailed than most new games these days.

I completely agree with you, It's just flat out stupid to say "Oh sorry, you paid MONEY for those games but the story doesn't work with what we want to do".

The freaking games were AUTHORIZED expansions, how in the hell are you just gonna say "just pretend those exps didn't exist".

I have just lost all interest in the rest of the fear games because of this....just completely and utterly pointless and stupid.

The expansions are not canon, no matter how much people want them to be. Plain and simple the only things they did were kill off compassionate characters that the player should expect to survive along with them.

They did *nothing* to further the story. Nothing. EP leaves the character exactly back where he started, and with the loss of his only two companions.

PM did nothing but mary-sue in a bunch of "we're even more bad ♥♥♥ than those guys in the real game".

They were both *fun as heck* to play. But they are NOT canon. Nothing in them can be claimed as 'real' to the story - because they had *no story worth having*.

Cool story bro, too bad it's totally subjective. Everything was fine until FEAR 3 showed up and ruined the continuity. Does anyone even play the original FEAR any more? Whenever I get an itch for FPS it's always the expansions I go to first. But since the stories were apparently so far beneath you ("likable characters dying IN A HORROR GAME? WHAT TREACHERY IS THIS") maybe you could write us up some interweb fan-fic that disregards Jin and Holiday's death as a PSYCHIC HALLUCINATION WOOOOO or some such resort. Since Point Man is apparently deaf dumb and blind now we certainly can'y expect any helpful exposition like "I thought you were dead" from the developers now can we?

I really don't care about your discussion with this person, but I think you might have accidentally stumbled upon a great way to shut everyone the hell up about the story and the expansion packs. Everything in the expansion packs was part of a psychic hallucination that Point Man has between FEAR and FEAR 3. Since he can't talk, he never tells anyone about it and never reflects upon it in any meaningful way. Honestly it kind of fits, given the fact that we hallucinate a bunch throughout most of FEAR 1 and 2.

But honestly, who cares? I play these games because they're pretty and fun to play and occasionally startle me, not because I actually relate or care about any of the characters besides Alma. To be honest, I pretend that I'm me, and everyone has just completely forgotten my name and calls me the Point Man.

No that's besides the point. A lot of people (like myself) play these games now for story, not just cause it looks pretty. You can't just pretend some events never happened, it's just stupid and simply put, BAD writing. There's no explanation of how pointman or sgt. Bucket (yes I like bucket over becket), ended up in the custody of armacham, there just there.

Simply put, they dicked this series badly. Regardless of whether or not EP and PM where canon or not, they had the FEAR title on them and should be counted as a VALID expansion and any good writer/company will just play off of other peoples work to make a good story.

I feel really cheated that I spent money on this sh*t.
