No, so long as the game is in an incomplete state according to the developer it is a beta. What you are implying as a "beta" is an "open beta" of which there will not be. Basic nomenclature here.
And I'm sure user input (as well as statistical data gathered) during this time will affect the way the game progresses and is fine-tuned. What you, and probably everyone else like you constantly thinks (probably because IW took Nuclear Dawn, a previously free mod and turned it retail) is that InterWave is some "evil super-corp", what you don't realize is the fact that InterWave was founded by a group of community gamers... community input is quite important to them, but basic rules of game design still apply. They won't be making some major balance change just because "a few people on the forums think weapon X is too weak and weapon Y is too strong" they'll look at statistical data revolving around these claims (which they do gather), and if that claim is backed up by that data it will be changed. I do understand playing the devil's advocate, and I commend you for it, but educated information should come first, like your previous post on the other thread about "for pay DLC" of which InterWave has never said in any official capacity that they will release "for pay DLC". |

Yeah, I'm not sure what beef he has against the game. Either he's making uninformed jumping-the-gun accusations or he's trolling. And we don't take kindly to either.

The "finished" state is actually in the decision of the developers. Personally I can see the possibility of vehicles in SOME cases rather difficult to implement, especially if you want what is known as a "good looking source engine map". There's a lot of debris, and just...stuff...that vehicles could get hung up on...easily. It will take quite some time for this (and other potential issues) to be balanced to get rid of annoyance and implement "fun". The Source engine's existing vehicle code... not pretty, and not really meant for multiplayer. Here's the real kicker, for some reason all that vehicle code networked everything, sound, particle/dust effects, everything that has to do with vehicles in the source engine within it's "unedited state" is by far NOT optimized for network play. All that should be placed in terms of sound for it is an origin and a filename to play for the user. And the same goes for those effects. And I know there's much much more.
So... do you want your tank getting stuck on a curb for 20 minutes before someone blows you up? Or how about a 350 ping to a server that's right down the street to you? Or will you just deal with properly implemented infantry combat until such time vehicles are implemented, and optimized, and done well. What your saying would be if you were to tell us that TF2 upon it's official shelf release was incomplete when it was released because it didn't have payload maps. A type of map that never existed in the TF world beforehand (afaik). But now it's one of the most popular game types. Or how about Half-Life 2 being incomplete because they later released Episode 1 and 2? Half-Life 1 was incomplete because counter-strike wasn't with it when it was released...right? |

...you aren't getting the point...
and I have owned every GTA game... which BTW, I hope you mean the 90's ;-) Gaming can be fun without vehicles. There is no REQUIREMENT of vehicles to have a fun/good game. And I was talking of limitations in level/map design dependent on what is (or isn't) implemented in terms of visuals. |

It's so damn hard to ignore idiots though. They need to be taught lessons... especially by gamers who remember events like the first QuakeCon and QuakeWorld... and stuff like that... (and before).
