[HELP!]Crashes on campaign map after the recent patch
I have a 1.5 GB Nvidia GTX 460M GPU, i7 2630Q 2.0 Ghz CPU and a 8GB RAM
I had no problems with running the game and never had any crashes before before the recent patch. However, after the recent patch I was playing co-op campaign mod with my friend and the game crashed on my turn. After that, the game frequently started to crash even while I was playing it in single player campaign mod(on my turn). Please help me solve this irritating problem ![]() ------------------- Okay guys problem solved. I went to the Total War Shogun 2 folder in program files/steam/steamapps/common/shoguntaotalwar and went in the redist folder and reinstalled vcredist_x86. I found this on another thread and it worked for me. Last edited by sadcafe91: 07-04-2011 at 09:31 AM. |

Yeah, maybe try it without using mods?
I love mods, dont get me wrong, but until you learn how to leave mods at home, just stay out of online I guess. Verify cache? maybe reinstall, idk mods are real SOB's |

Same thing keeps happening to me too. But the game crashes on the single player campaign I am about to beat (ikko ikki). It's so frustrating!

I've just notice sth: it crashes after 3 or 4/5(max) turns. Whatever the time I play, it will crash after 3/4/5 turns...

Hi guys,
Craig here from CA. The latest patch didn't introduce anything that would cause crashing. It simply brought in a new achievement for the Steam Summer Sale. There is a Steam issue with the Redist installation. If you're having problems starting, please try reinstalling vcredist_x86. You can also delete the registry.blob file, or verify the integrity of your game cache - a good thing to try if you're having installation issues. Hope this helps. Craig |

Hi Craig. I did reinstall vcredist_x86 and verify the cache of the game.
Now, if the patch didn't introduce anything but an achievement why do so many players (I've seen others elsewhere) suddenly have trouble with the game crashing for no reason? I mean this game always crashes sometimes but this is getting way more frequent. I can't complete more than 5 turns without crashing! Thx anyway for your answer. |

Additionally, a few peeps have had their issues resolved by updating drivers, particularly when it comes to campaign map issues. Mods also can cause problems with patches, so until the mod maker has updated things, you might want to try running the game without them. Our QA process tests any new content across a wide range of systems and we haven't picked up anything like this happening internally. But everyone's setup is unique, and you might have discovered one with yours that merits further investigation from us. Do keep us up to date and we'll look into it. I bought a CD retail copy of Shogun 2 and while it is playable its not playable in DX11 at the moment due to stability issues. Where do I find this file: vcredist_x86 on the retail CD or something I download from steam? IN DX11 it would always crash to desktop, in DX9 on window mode it is playable and it sometimes crashes to the loading map screen. Is this kind of bug indicative of an installation error or something else? I have to say though what i've been able to play so far has been great, the atmosphere of the game is amazing. Feudal Japan is an interesting era! |

The below settings seemed to be causing some stability issues with my constant crash to desktop error. This is how I resolved it:
Previously Vertical Synchronization and Tessellation were both selected. Shader model was on 3 and now it is on 5. So turning off Vertical Synchronization and Tessellation seemed to work for me. Refer to this thread fmi: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1969372 |

Sent2Strike, your tip didn't work for me but I've found another workaround. Your tip gave me the following idea: choose very high video setting instead of high. And guess what... The game hasn't crashed since I did it!
I say WTF! |

I've been playing on Shogun 2 since it's first released on Steam. I never had any problem with the game after the patch. Maybe it's cause by the mod as some of fellow gamers suggested.

Hi Craig, thank you for your attention.
Well, I don't run the game with any mod and my drivers are up to date and whql. Now I remember windows updating just before the patch came out, it may be related to that but I doubt so. I'll keep you up to date if anything new happens... |

Game Freezes in Campaign
My game crashes when I'm in campaign mode randomly. It could be when an enemy attacks me or when I click the diplomacy button. It just will freeze at random and no matter how long I wait it won't come back to normal.
Before when I first got it the game I never had a problem but recently when I've tried playing it will freeze and I have to shut it down and restart it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any ideas to help? |

I upgraded my computer to a 64 bit OS and this game has not worked since. I have tried ALL suggestions stated here and elsewhere. I cant very well buy the DLC for a game I can no longer play eh...?
