Due to the nature of the game, I can only see the mouse as pointless (menu, perhaps?), and higher resolution as ugly upscales

oh, there he is again...
you realize that the camera rotation only goes left/right? you don't need a mouse to control the camera, in fact, using one would not benefit you at all. Why don't you simply put the camera keys onto buttons you're comfortable with? |

A and S rotate the camera left and right. A lot easier than having to use V all the time imo. |
