Can't Start Kane & Lynch 2

Kane & Lynch 2 just won't start. Every time I launch it from Steam, my user icon turns green, then blue after a moment. Running kl2.exe from the game directory says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." I've redownloaded the game several times, checked integrity, reinstalled DirectX, OpenAL and VC++ 2008 and copied over OpenAL files from other folders. Does this game just not like Windows 7 x64?

reset every settings to default and try again, this is what i can only make it running sometimes.

Going into setup and setting everything to default, sometimes several times, is the only way I can effectively start the game. It does work!

install the file located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\kane and lynch dead men\XLiveRedist

That did the trick for me

I can't run setup either; same problem as the game itself. While XLiveRedist is only bundled with Kane & Lynch 1 (not 2), it doesn't fix it anyway.
