Installation: "Missing configuration" error

I get the following error when Steam tries to prepare the installation of the German version of Fallout 3 GOTY:

"An error occured while installing Fallout 3 - GOTY Edition (Missing configuration)"

I already deleted the client registry, changed the client language from English to German, changed to the Beta update, and changed the server location. I am able to install other games.

I also reported this error to Steam support, I hope they react in a timely manner.

Hello oktoberklub.

I had your same problem, my region is Spain and Fallout 3 GOTY, just bought, was automatically configured on Spanish, and every time I tried to install it, this error you say showed up.

The only thing I did was to change the language to English. Now it's downloading, I guess later I will be able to change language to castilian again and that will be all.

i have fix it with change language of the game download but a friend haven't language in the properties,please help!
and fix that bug please,i'm french and i don't want to play this game english...i can speak english but no fun to take a game and can't play it in my own language

In the german version you can't even change the language. There is only german language and i get the same error as you. So i can't install it at all. Valve help!

Same problems here. German player , same error. I can change language in steam client into english. Now many installed games begin to update (into english version i think) but still cannot install F3. Same error.
Hope the problem can be solved

the change of lenguaje works perfectly in my fallout 3 version. German users must open a ticket, it looks like the english version have more files than the spanish or german (the english version is more than 9GB and the spanish version are near of 8GB, so i think that when we download the english version it download full and them change the languages, but in german version that is a CUT version is only available on one language, so is a steam problem not your computers problem.

Well, changing the language didn't work unfortunately. I switched from English to German to English. Seems to be an issue with Steam and the German FO3 version.

i've purchased the german version too and now i'm facing the same problem. since switching the language into english did not solve anything i hope to get some help by steam support soon

But now I can't change language. I can change language from Steam' settings, but the game still is in english =S

I've got the same problem, german version and no possibility to install or to change the language, so please steam, do it a.s.a.p.
