Should weapons be introduced in the follow-up game to Amnesia: The Dark Descent (if there is going to be one)?

Hell no, that would basically eliminate the entire point of the game.

Not necessarily weapons per se, but maybe ways to slow down or at least distract your enemies a little more, especially the few that never give up chasing you. I hate being completely defenseless.

I too, with some others disagree on such an addition though.. Penumbra Overture lost 50% of its fear factor (if not more) once you found out you could pretty much own everything that attacked you. |

i would say things like the gas traps(penumbra anyone) wouldnt be too bad. or just things like fuller said. Some ways to slow stop the enemies without necesarily killing them but giving you some kind of chance if you can control yourself to do something productive

The whole point of the game is to feel hopeless and defenseless.
Adding weapons would defeat the purpose and kill what makes the game scary. |

maybe the either:
a) have things to distract the monsters that 1/2 a second you might need to GTFO; b) grab something to take damage instead of you for a hit or two; c) have a way to like push past the monster, as a way to have a fighting chance if you get cornered, possibly at the cost of a huge chunk of sanity because you have to touch the monster Not so much weapons, but ways to help yourself out a bit in a pinch or those "OH S*IT" moments |

but hitting them with barrels just jaratees them off and makes them run faster, and unless pre-prepared you aren't gonna have time to make a survivable barricade

I tried the barricade thing against the final monster in the Justine DLC. I took a ton of barrels and crates and stacked/positioned them as best I could in the area where he appears before opening that gate. In the end, though, it really didn't seem to slow that monster down at all; at the very least, I figured he would have to smash his way through a lot of them, buying me even 10 or 15 seconds (that's A LOT in that scene!). I finally got through the section just by sheer speed and adrenaline. That one, though, is a PRIME example of why there needs to be some little something added to help you out when you're otherwise hopelessly trapped--just something that gives you a fighting chance.

IF you wanna try the weapons thing, you can go play another game of Paradox Interactive's called 'Penumbra Overture'.
Very similar in terms of atmosphere and the plot, but you do get several weapons

Honestly, I would hate that. It's one of the best parts of the game, not being able to do anything against it, as someone has already said.

No. I could see them having part of Penumbras melee code in just for custom stories, but not used for the main story or Amnesia.
