*Blushes* ... I ran out of fuel
..Yeah, like an idiot in space after using my afterburner too much to finish a race. I'm now drifting with no directional control and unable to jump, as one would probably expect.
...How does one call the tow truck?

I've never tried - can you trade with a passing ship and buy fuel off them? Only other way I can think of if your jumpdrive won't work, and you don't have a fuel convertor, is to restore from a save.

If you can get onto a MP server you might be able to ask a player for a rescue.

Either reload a previous save or connect to a multi-player server and ask someone to come rescue you.
You shouldn't have too much trouble asking for rescue in multi-player. Anyone who has played the game long enough has done this at least once. |

DriftDriver has got it. Go on to MP and broadcast a Mayday message and sure enough on of the pilots will come and give you some get you home juice.
You are not the first and sure won't be the last. However you need to be aware that for some time we will all point fingers and laugh at you!!! LOL Just to let you know that Bravo ran out of fuel once and nearly a second time in the same trip as he appeared to be going in the wrong direction!!! |

Heh, thanks guys. I was hoping that another ship would pass by close enough and I could potentially trade for fuel, but none did, so I ended up reloading a save and losing some progress, but I guess that's what happens when you don't look at teh fuel guage.
Interesting to know that people will be willing to help you out in MP like that, though. Sounds like a pretty fun community. Either way, its a harsh lesson... I'm sure it'll happen to me again sooner or later and I'll need to call a fellow pilot to rescue me xP

I once had a new Ford Escort that had a busted fuel pump. This had the effect of locking the fuel gauge needle at 3/4 full. I thought I was getting terrific fuel mileage until, well, you can guess. Also: don't drive into the mountains for a picnic right after you take your new car off the dealer's lot.
