lol i wish the steam ban was like this :D

you know i came across this site recently lol what you do you think , should vac bans be like this ?
http://whywasibanned.com/

notice how the xbl enforcement instantly posts the reason , yet they enforce the terms so strict , but its foolish to think such a system would work on pc games cause of the sheer numbers .
they do hand out bans for hacking/cheating in games / achievement hacking / abuse etc

While it's hilarious to read those bans it's not exactly a good thing for VAC to do that. The cheater would know what cheat got them banned.

Though in the start, a Valve employee named Taylor Sherman I think. He was known as The Sherminator. He owned up some people pretty good. The best one was one guy who had tried using fake names with a credit card.

So he posted a similar made up name the the guy hadn't used. The guy respond by adding in a name that was actually being used.

Such self ownage was priceless.

It works for them because it's a console ban.

True but the end does not justify the means. It's better for 3 guilty people to get away with cheating than 1 innocent person getting a false ban.

Have all those threads/posts been purged by now?
When you saw Taylor posting in a thread, you knew it was going to be gold.

Some of these are pretty good. One of my favorites is the one by Boom1thewar where he tries to be slick and sneak in a threat by claiming to be a lawyer. I love that.

I think this would be great IF Valve could make it work. It would not only silence all f the people complaining about not knowing what there ban was for, AND it would let the volunteers have a little bit of fun with it.

If you actually read most of the xbox postings there they really fall into one of 4 categories

1) Avatar modification (skin/hair colour not allowed)
2) Gamertag or bio ban/suspensions (offensive or excessive amounts of violations)
3) Advertising modded lobbies or jtag stuff via profile or messages
4) A distant 4th, actual cheating

Note XBLPET people have to SEE the cheating before they institute a ban so you really have a fundamental limitation as to how many people get banned at any given time due to cheating.

Also xbox live as a service works a lot differently than VAC does from a functional perspective.

Don't get me wrong. The stupid stuff people say is amusing, and we get that a lot here to of 'why was I vac banned? i no cheat' kind of deal. But the system they have in place is great for banning users where the violation in asynchronous. Avatars/gamertags/bios can be checked enmasse and they even have an interesting system using the xbox controller to quickly run through violations of this kind extremely quickly. But as an anti-cheat mechanism it's not very effective and is not really designed to be that anyway.

Anyone else notice a pattern in the games played by those people?
Mod and hacker infested game series... I own Blops and that's my biggest regret.

Not really fair as pretty much every xbox player on the planet probably owns a copy of BO or MW3 or BF3. It's basically like saying because a kid had an xbox at home, the fact that they murdered their parents was because of the xbox.
