Disc installation - product activation stopping me..halp!

Hi peeps,

As the subject suggests, please help me solve my noobness.

I bought the game from a local retailer and not knowing how steam install via disc worked fired up the installation. after being prompted to enter the product code and registered, steam then started to download the game. im not on the best/free connections so i cancelled the installation. finally i got hold of how to install steam games from a disc, but now every time i want to do that, the installation still takes me to the product code screen and then tells me the product is already registered with an account. please tell me there is a way around this?

Hmm, I'll PM you.

In general the installer should install the files from the disk first, and then download the last 100-200 MB of updates etc at the end.
