Alice fails at launch with awc.dll there was a problem with your setup please .....

This occurred the first time I tried to run the game. I verified the Steam file integrity (no errors), uninstalled the game, verified folders were deleted, restarted my computer, and redownloaded it. Same error afterwards. Thoughts?

Resurrecting this thread because I'm having the exact same problem. I'm still in the middle of searching for a solution as tonight was the very first time I was going to play the game. I verified the game files first, then uninstalled/reinstalled with no change. Running Windows 7 64-Bit with a 3 GHz AMD Athlon II X-3 440 and Radeon HD 7850.

EDIT: I think I found the problem; I have to both disable Comodo Firewall on my computer AND run the AliceMadnessReturns.exe file under Windows XP SP 3 compatibility mode to get the game to launch.

But does anyone know a solution for having to have an EA account to play the game??

You have to register with ea if you have origin installed the game also appears in there and can be downloaded through origin.
