Mini Sentry Jumping and Unusual Teleporters

Hi, I've been into mini sentry jumping since the update and I believe I've found locations for teleporters that have never been discovered before.

Check out my youtube channel for videos:

http://www.youtube.com/user/zoopyjoobles

I think this is an aspect of the game that should be expanded on. Adding a third dimension to your building area gives an engineer a lot more options and it's also a heck of a lot of fun.

I hope all you engineers can get some ideas from my videos, enjoy and please let me know what you think.

Nice videos, I knew some of the jumps, some not Minisentry jumping is fun, I sometimes do it on jumpservers side by side with RJ'ing sollies

My favourite thing to do is to miniSG jump to the spawn tunnels in gravelpit where the enemy team can expect a solly or demo jumping up there, but not an angry texan with a whole lot of revenge crits

Man, some of those spots.
It inspired me to learn to sentry jump.
A task that was thankfully easier to learn than first appearance tells.

These are fantastic.

And a far cry from the token Gravelpit "Roof of B" base. How do you figure-out all these ninja base spots? Spec a map until you notice some geometry that might be buildable?

Well, I tend to like exploring a bit on a map, and after poking around, I can usually spot when an area MIGHT be build able or not.

My sentry jumping is good enough so that I hardly ever miss a jump, and can usually manage a jump under fire, as long as I don't get hit MID jump and get thrown off the stream.

Most of the door overhangs (like badlands) are sadly, non build able.

Also remember it can all be ruined by an unthinking heavy who stands on the teleporter firing away, or a foolish engineer who builds a level 3 up there. This simply alerts the enemy team to your teleporter location, and they hasten to make sure it's never up again. It can be very frustrating.

It's too bad there are so FEW spots to build, some maps have none at all. Others have one or two. I would like to see more options, but it seems the trend on the newer maps is to limit these areas even more.

There are some other maps where I have secret spots, and I'm trying to get videos up, but I have the usual rendering crashes on my replays which is also very frustrating. It seems they only work about 30% of the time and hours are wasted on rendering.

I'm glad you enjoy my videos guys, give the jumps a try, and keep your teleporters secret!

The Gravel Pit Teleporter entrance still works, I don't consider it an exploit because of the TERRIBLE deal we get on defense with teleporter entrances. And most people somehow never seem to see it anyway!

Yep, some maps sadly don't havy any jump-exclusive ninja spots but hiding your teles still can be kind of art. Some spots seem to be really obvious but it always surprises me how long these teles last, being totally ignored by enemies walking past it. Or just simple corners sometimes work wonders. Scouting map for any unusual geometry to build on (f.e. mentioned computers in gravelpit spawn which seem to be ignored by your teammates) works best though.

Like this one.

That's always been a decent spot, but once a location gets well known (especially to spies) it becomes less useful. Not only that but spies tend to lurk in the same dark corners that make good teleporter locations.

This is one of the reasons I put my teleporters out of their fiendish reach as much as I can. As engineers, spies are our arch enemies and nothing gives me more pleasure than frustrating them. God knows what sort of demented, sick mind one must posses to desire to play spy. Grumble grumble curse their black souls...grumble.

So, herein lies the problem, we simply run out of good locations to place teleporters, and they become increasingly more vulnerable as their spots get more well known. Sentry jumping solves this problem somewhat, and with just a FEW more options, I think it would balance out teleporters nicely, as sentry jumping takes some skill to perform.

But you are right, sometimes hiding a tele almost in plain sight is a good option, you've just got to do the unexpected.

Agreed with everything except the spy rant since spy and engi are one of my most played classes Good teles are as dangerous as medics and somebody has to take care of it. But yeah, if I had to roleplay engi, I'd agree

Too bad most roofs are blocked with invis walls or building is blocked on them and other cool elevations as well.

What I'd definitely love to see is Sentry Jumper. Just like the Sticky Jumper, it would be a wrangler painted orange, dealing no self damage with rockets and bullets + similar downsides. It's in the workshop here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...=sentry+jumper Be sure to support it
