Given that 'ideally' Torchlight 2 won't be released until a month after Diablo3 launches, the appearance on the registry is promising, but not correlative of any up coming release date.

Many games simply rot in the registry for months before being released as well.

But given the PR blitz going on lately, I suspect we should see a July release date.

Whoever manage the release date for Touchlight II should be fired. The game should have been release last year well ahead to D3. Instead they going to release it about the same month as D3. If Touchlight II fails you know who to blame.

D3 is already subpar, there's not much competition.

I agree that D3 isn't good but it is still D3 and Blizzard. The Diablo brand is strong. Blizzard brand is strong. People will buy it just for the name itself.

Torchlight on the other hand isn't well recognized nor is the developer of it.

The best time to release Torchlight 2 was last year. It would have capitalize the lack of action RPG and tied down those people that are waiting for D3.

Even if Torchlight 2 is release in September or later it will not do that well. People will still be buying and playing D3.

unfortunately it IS true and I agree. They should've released a LONG time ago. Now there are TONS of arpg's coming out.

Path of Exile
Drakensaang
^^
free2play to boot

torchlight 2
diablo3
grim dawn
that other cool lookin one with one word..crank or something

I also disagree with their thinking about coming out anytime within 6 months after diablo 3. unless they know something we don't that's just crazy silly.

Are you talking about the browser based MMORPG? I think this is the second time someone has mixed up ARPG with MMORPG.

Most people that really enjoy the genre know that the Torchlight devs are the Diablo 1 and 2 devs. Which gives them much more street cred than ANY of the D3 devs and PLENTY of recognition.

I'd say "most people that really enjoy the genre" know that what matters is the quality of the game, not the people who do it. And like GP said, only a few of those people went to runic

Why don't they just go ahead and fire all of themselves for not being able to finish the game on time?

They should shouldn't they save money IMO. They should start laying off the person that decided the release date. Than start with the most incompetent person on the team first and work the way down.

What part of it is a mess? Because it played pretty solidly during the beta last weekend.

Oh boy where do I start?
- I need to be online even in Single player. If I lose connection to the server (happened a lot this weekend) I get reset to the last checkpoint which might be several (20+) minutes away.
- But it saves the achievements because Blizzard knows what is really important in their games....
- I hate the graphics looks like it was smeared all over with the remains of the Shell-accident.
- The new skill system is strange (and I tried to phrase that kindly)
- And what really threw me off was the WoW-Log-Out(TM). 10...9...8...7...
