Game lags any time I open inventory, pick up items, etc

Every time I open up my inventory/map/quests/etc, or pick up items, the game lags for 2-3 seconds. It's very annoying. Interestingly, I can still move my mouse around, it's just that everything else stops moving. After the lag ends, everything warps to catch up to where it should be.

I've googled and browsed through this forum but can't find any info on this?

I installed the fan patch but that didn't help.

FIXED! YES!

So the problem was this: I have my OS on an SSD, and I keep Steam on a separate HDD so I can keep all my games installed. Basically TQ needs to constantly write to a folder that defaults to being on the main drive, and that is what was causing the hang. I needed to basically move the save folder onto my main steam HDD, and create a link to it from the ssd.
