Major Frustration

I'm one of those people who have never owned a console since the days of the Atari console back in the 1980s so have never played on an Xbox, Playstation or 360 or whatever they're called these days. It's ALWAYS been a PC with a mouse and keyboard for me all the way. So when I buy a game for the PC and get letters popping up telling me that button "A" does this or button "X" does that I kind of expect the game to do what it's told when I press those buttons.

Unfortunately, NONE of the keys do what the game tells you they should actually do so I've just spent the last hour randomly clicking keys trying to decipher what ACTUAL keyboard key really works for certain actions. Why do developers, gaming companies and programmers think this is ok!? Especially when a game doesn't even give you an option to change keys!

You can do all sorts of amazing things with games and computers these days - is it really so difficult to make sure that you change a few letters in the programming before porting a game over so that it's user-friendly for the PC crowd? I don't know what other people think but, personally, I've been REALLY frustrated with this issue on this game - making my first impression of it VERY NEGATIVE indeed. I just hope that the controls become intuitive enough and the gameplay good enough that this doesn't stay as an "issue." BUT WHY MAKE IT AN ISSUE IN THE FIRST PLACE!?

Rant over.

You can rebind the keys. Open your Steam list and double kick on the game. It should ask you if you want to run the configuration tool or run the game. Run the config. You can change the key bindings from there. If it doesn't give you the option of the config tool and just launches you straight into the game right click on it on your Steam list and select "configure" instead.

I agree that it's pretty sloppy that it displays Xbox 360 buttons only. It's a very lazy port. Perhaps I'll send a letter to Sega telling them if they add in proper prompts I'll buy the Casino Night DLC :P

I would recommend you play with a gamepad if you can though. It's playable with a keyboard (I finished the whole game on one the first time 'round) but as with any 3D platformer it controls better with an analogue stick (same way RTS works better with a mouse than a gamepad).

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sonic generations

Then just double click the configuration tool and click the tab called, "input". This will allow you to alter all of your controls.
