Question Fallout 3 Has Stopped working?

When I press play on the thing that comes up with Options and Data Files it crashes and says "Fallout 3 has stopped working." I have it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. I have tried verifying the files and restarting my PC and that didn't work.

Specs:

Intel 2500k OCed to 4GHz
NVidia GTX 580 SLI
Corsair HX1050w PSU
Cooler Master HAF 932
Gigabyte P67A UD7 B3 Mobo
16GB Corsair Dominator RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD
Intel 128GB SSD
CoolerMaster H212+
Asus 24 Inch Monitor x3

Unfortunately I can't help. I'd say that when you overclock a computer so much and put excessive amounts of memory in it beyond 4Gig (especially a largely wasted 16Gig), and then on top of all that decide to go to Windows 64bit, all bets are off and you accept the risk that stuff may not work. It is also entirely possible that you've damaged your hardware with any tweaking you've done.

Run your CPU and/or video card back down to stock speeds, ditch the extra unused 12Gig of ram (even in A/V editing 1080P content I never reach 4Gig of used memory. Nor when compiling C++ code, Gaming, or surfing porn), and install 7 Professional 32bit (unless you really need those 2 extra features that "Ultimate" gives you... yeah, you pay all that money for 2 features; bitlocker (useless) and additional languages).

Good luck.

LMFAO..... do you know how stupid you sound saying that...even if your trying to troll, you sound like a complete idiot.

Edit: Same problem here Bob7.

So, actually submit something of at least moderate intelligence to the conversation in actually stating what you think I said that is incorrect or that you actually take issue with. Otherwise, you're just a talking head that has no useful input. Anybody can say "you're stupid, harhar, you're a troll, har har" but few can add relevant information.

Point out something that I said that is factually incorrect and we can discuss it like adults, if you're an adult. And even if you aren't an adult, there is no excuse for ignorance unless you're younger than 10.

Thanks, I'll set my CPU to stock speed. Also, the game worked before and that was when I had 16GB RAM.

16GB is fine, why would I get rid of the extra 12GB of RAM and run my 4GB in single channel for less performance?

NicholasDM that is the biggest load of crap I've seen in a long while it's not his PC. Also with the amount of ram he has he should stick with 64 bit, this isn't 2006. This game crashes on any PC there are ways to reduce this with mods from Fallout 3 Nexus and mod load orders you should ask somebody on Fallout 3 nexus they will be of more help then anyone on this forum good luck!

See other comments to you on other threads. You are clearly a very misguided and underinformed individual.

If you can't understand the simple reasoning by what was suggested, then it's not worth the time trying to explain the technical details do you.

Overclocking when done safely usually only cuts off 2 years of the hardware's life and most hardware has around 20 years of life, and by that time he'll most likely have new hardware. Also Windows 7 64 bit is the better option over 32 bit due to it being phased out in the future, and I'm running an overclocked PC and I'm on windows 7 64 bit and my games aren't crashing because I configured it properly troll. bob 7 if you're reading this you should also get Fallout mod manager and Boss user list if you're using any mods, also make sure you have archive invalidated. And one more thing you should also try the Fallout 3 unofficial patch it fixes alot of problems with Fallout 3.

Yah know, I had this 7 or so paragraph response written full of technical details, facts and helpful information... then I realized something...

It would be like trying to explain 1+1=2 to a brick wall.

Have a good day.

Ahh one of those people. Well you see i don't actually use 16 gigs of my ram i actually only need 2, so i pitched the other 14. Because my 32 bit system doesn't use more than 2. Oh and 64 bit systems yea they have so many problems, 32 bit is more stable naturally. and of course when it comes to video cards, sell your 580's and just use onboard video, as long as you tweak it correctly it will work.

How the hell am I supposed to use 3 monitors and play BF3 on max at 5760x1080 WITH ONBOARD VIDEO?

(My mobo don't even come with it)
